This Is Trump’s Plan To Steal The Election In His Own Words

This president is a threat to our democracy and supporting him should make you feel sick.

This week has been filled with many salacious remarks from the POTUS expressing his lust for power just as any other week over the past four years has been. What's different this time is the openness with which Trump is brandishing his attacks on our democracy and institutions.

Some will undoubtedly try to explain away his statements this week. But it is no longer credible for Trump supporters to suggest that Trump is joking when he says he will not leave office peacefully. Trump supporters have no ground to stand on when they say his statements about not accepting the results of the election are just hypothetical and nothing more. There is no merit in their tired argument that Trump's attacks on ballots and voting are not legitimate.

Here's the thing: we all need to turn on our listening ears and pay attention to the trail of breadcrumbs Trump is leaving that lead to the destruction of American democracy.

He's already told us that he will not accept the results of an election that he does not win. He's told the entire country that he is not against the idea of inciting even more violence if the ballots don't come back in his favor. He tells the nation every day that the very system that got him elected is broken and that any election outcome that is not in his favor is a rigged election. Some people may attempt to justify Trump's assault on democracy by pointing to the fact that the President's press secretary has said that he will accept the results of "a free and fair election".

This is misguided.

Trump says at almost every rally he holds that the only way he could possibly lose is if the election is rigged. This statement by the President combined with the statement of Kayleigh McEnany means that the president will only accept a victory. He will not accept a loss because any loss is rigged and he will not accept election results that are rigged because they are not free and fair by his standards. But here's the often overlooked truth: his standard for fairness is judged only by victory.

There is no other option in his mind than a Trump victory in November regardless of the means necessary to secure such victory.

If you can not see how Trump's rhetoric is blatantly an attack on the electoral process, I'll outline an even more obvious instance of Trump undermining the legitimacy of the election for you. Trump in his own words stated that he would like to "get rid of the ballots" to secure his victory in the upcoming election. He said at a press conference "get rid of the ballots and you'll have a very trans-we'll have a very peaceful-there won't be a transfer, frankly; there'll be a continuation [of power]." This is a direct quote from the President of the United States, not from Fidel Castro or from Kim Jong Un. These are the exact words of the man who is meant to be the leader of the free world, but they read like words from a dictator.

These words are no accident. Trump is laying the groundwork for how he expects the election to unfold. He will not promise a peaceful transition of power because if he loses he will claim it is rigged. There will not be a transition "there'll be a continuation".

Combine this statement with his desire to rush through a Supreme Court nomination, and his plan to undermine our democratic process becomes even clearer. Trump says that he will only lose if the election is rigged. When he loses in November, he will claim that the election was illegitimate. This is known because he has told us over and over again that this is what he will do. But following the death of RBG, Trump has been presented with a unique opportunity to fill a Supreme Court seat with his favorite type of woman, a subservient one who believes that husbands should "rule over wives". This woman will be the vote that Trump needs to secure himself an illegitimate second term following a defeat in November. He will cite the use of mail in ballots as a reason to contest the results of the election and he will send the case to the Supreme Court where Amy Coney Barrett will be the deciding vote to keep Trump in office regardless of the will of the American people.

Some people may read this and believe it is an overreaction. Maybe those people are right. What I do know though, is that now would be a hell of a bad time to under-react, under-prepare or under-anticipate the lengths that the President will go to to ensure that he remains in office in 2021. If the time comes when what I've outlined above becomes our reality and the Democrats have no way of dealing with such a treacherous and disgusting assault on democracy, it is then that will we know that we truly have lost the battle for the soul of America. And if for whatever reason you still support this man after what he has said over the past week you should feel sickened and ashamed. You are nothing short of un-American and history will remember you as such especially if the President's plan unfolds with your help. Be on the right side of history. Do what you know in your heart is the right thing to do. It's America versus Trump and I know what side I am fighting for. Do you?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
