A 7-Day Diet For Anyone Trying To Shed Extra Weight

There are all sorts of diets out there, but there is only one that I swear by. This diet is very effective and anyone should really try if they're trying to lose weight.

The cabbage soup diet. I know that doesn't sound great, but everyone should really try it if you've tried all those crazy ones and they haven't worked for you.

In this diet, you eat the soup for 7 days, while following another meal plan. However, what's important with this diet is FOLLOWING the meal plan, and don't cheat when you do it. Also to mostly be drinking water, water is very very important, and you should try drinking a gallon a day. You also need to do at least 45 minutes of exercise every day. Whether that exercise is strength or cardio, any sort of strenuous exercise for the minimal 45 minutes each day is a necessity because you're not going to see those results if you don't work for it. I also found not over eating on the food you were able to have was important too.

Depending on your eating habits that can vary as well between different people, but if you really are hungry, eat what is on the meal plan, but if you're not hungry, don't eat. (Also can mix this with the warrior diet if you are able to).

The ingredients for the cabbage soup is as follows:

-1/2 a head of cabbage chopped up

-1 cup of celery diced

-1 cup of white or yellow onion diced

-1 cup of carrots diced

-1 green bell pepper diced

-2-3 cloves of garlic minced up

-4 cups of chicken broth

-14 oz of can basil, oregano, and garlic diced tomatoes

-1 teaspoon oregano

-1 teaspoon basil

-1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

-a few shakes of black pepper

optional- 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Here's how you cook it!

1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat on the stove.

2. Add the celery, onions, bell peppers, and carrots.

3. Saute until it is slightly tender.

4. Stir in the garlic.

5. Pour in the chicken broth!

6. Stir in the tomatoes and the cabbage.

7. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat.

8. Cook the cabbage until it is tender and soft.

9. Stir in the oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and salt (optional).

10. Taste broth and adjust the seasoning of the taste if need be.

11. Eat and enjoy!

So each day you'll eat that soup, but along on each day, there are different protocols to follow.

Day 1:

Eat only the soup and any sort of fruit you want EXCEPT banana. For drinks have unsweetened tea, black coffee, cranberry juice, and water. I found just sticking with water for the first few days works well.

Day 2:

Eat only veggies, fresh, raw, or cooked. However, don't eat sweet corn, peas, or any form of dry beans. You can have your soup and have a big baked potato with butter at dinner! No fruits.

Day 3:

Combine the meal plan for day 1 and 2, but NO baked potato at dinner. Eat your soup!

Day 4:

You can eat up to eight bananas and have as many glasses as you want of skim milk. This will help with your desire for sweets. I found it did! Keep having the soup!

Day 5:

Meat day! You can have 10-20 oz of beef! Or you can substitute with broiled chicken, skinless baked chicken, or broiled fish. You can also have 6 fresh tomatoes on this day! However, drink lots of water as that will be a lot of acids. Eat the soup as well.

Day 6:

Eat beef and veggies today! You can also have two to three steaks with a salad or the veggies, but NO baked potato. Make sure to have the soup today though at least once.

Day 7:

Eat as much brown rice as you want! Unsweetened fruit juices and veggies. I found unsweetened apple juice was pretty good, and cheap. Then have more soup!

Now if you stick to this diet exactly, and make sure to do exactly what it is, no cheating, and drinking water and exercising every day of it, I guarantee you will notice a difference, but you MUST work for it. Make your fat cells cry and eat the soup every day and follow the meal plan! If you can mix it with the warrior diet (intermittent fasting) that is great too, but if not, that's fine as well!

Hopefully, this diet works out for you and just believe in yourself! I think the most important part of this as well, is sticking with it. I know I had a hard time towards the end of the diet, but I found myself not wanting sweet foods that much and my food intake beginning to get smaller. Do what feels right and you will lose weight! Good luck!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
