My mother built her company from the ground up. She and my father both worked full time, raised my brother and me, earned respect on her own merits, and was so successful she retired in her forties. She never complained, she proved herself through her actions. My mother taught me how to be a strong and independent woman, which has become an uncommon trait since the start of third wave feminism.
Facta non verba is a Latin phrase. It means "Deeds not words," meaning that you can say something but it means nothing until you act upon it. Third wave feminism is a movement of protests, polarization, and exclusivity without results. Marching through our nation's capital conveying inappropriate, unseemly, and tasteless messages only proves they are not pro-women, but anti-conservative values. The exclusion of a pro-life feminist group only further backs my point. What's so wrong with not wanting an abortion anyways? To me, that child is a child at birth. Therefore that child is an American citizen with the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That's what I believe, you don't have to agree. That's why it's called pro-choice right? Or is that something only "nasty women" and democrats get to say?
First and second wave feminism fought for voting rights, birth control, the right to choose an abortion, the right to seek employment in a sad environment, change of social norms, the right to own property, and they fought against real pay discrimination. Women like Ashley Judd who believe that modern day feminism should promote "nasty and vulgar women" contradict what past feminist movement leaders worked so hard to get us where we are today. The fact the modern day feminist movement is working to defend vulgar and nasty women and to shut down and degrade all men, in my opinion, is a disgrace to the word feminism.
Women in America today don't face real oppression like those in the past two movements. Nor do they face anything close to the discrimination some women face overseas. We get to drive, we get to own our own homes or apartments, we get to have credit cards, we get to go to school ,we get to have careers and choices. They key phrase here is get to. We have options. I can get an education, have a family, and also have a career.
Conservative women can't be feminist these days. Even if democrats didn't force us out of the feminism movement, would we want to be apart of the third wave movement? Conservatives are the ones who pushed for the 19th amendment. We did it with class and with diplomacy. We didn't have vulgar signs nor did we scream about burning down the White House. I believe that true equality is the right to decide what you want. If you are like me and you prioritize marriage and family just as much as your career goals then that is just as good as wanting to get married young and be a stay at home mother. However women who exercise their right to choose their own life style that doesn't involve being a "nasty woman" then we are just women who have babies and let their husband do the thinking. News flash: women who can maintain a household, raise their children, purse a career, and have a happy marriage are the smartest and strongest women around. Also, they do it without the approval of the "masses".
