Things You Should Experience At Gordon College
Rosalind Keeley

Now that I have almost completed a year of college, I can finally say that I have experienced almost everything at Gordon College. This extraordinary place that I call my home is full of laughter and fun in every building. I have done so many things this year that you should DEFINITELY do if you visit. So come visit Gordon and experience these fun and amazing things!

Coffee/Beverage at Bistro or Chester's.

On a cold day or just whenever you need a little treat, grab some coffee or a latte at Bistro (or Chester's)! The atmosphere is different in both places depending on what you prefer: cozy, pub-like and a great place to meet with friends or a BAM/Barnes and Noble atmosphere, smelling of books and coffee.

Walk around Coy Pond.

Especially in the autumn, Coy Pond is a great place to walk/jog/run. People take photos of its beauty and enjoy the animals that frolic in and around the water. Before you end your time at Gordon, definitely make a stop down by the pond!

Explore Frost Hall.

Beautiful old stone house? Who wouldn't want to find all of the staircases and hidden rooms on a dreary Saturday afternoon?

Watch one of the glorious end-of-summer sunsets.

People are always snapping pictures of the infamous sunsets that you can see at Gordon...why see one on Instagram when you can come here and see one in person?

Catacombs.

Highlighted by their little usage of electricity and their amazing harmonies and acoustic instrumentation, this group of individuals is something to see when you come and visit Gordon.

Chapel worship/go to a spiritual life group meeting.

You never know what group will be gracing you with music from chapel to chapel...always keeps you spiritually energized!

Spiritual life groups are so fun and each one has a group of unique people that you can hang out with. If you visit, make sure to stop by one of the many groups that meet during the week! You can always feel God's presence in the group.

Hammock hanging with friends.

A staple item on any freshman's list for their birthday or Christmas is a hammock. On nice days, you could find a dozen students out and about in their "hammock villages" watching sports on the quad.

Sit in on a small class!

One of my favorite parts about Gordon is the class size. Some of my classes have as few as 12 to 14 people! We discuss, debate, yell, laugh and sing. If you want a fun learning environment for one day, come and sit in on a class.

See a Sweaty-Toothed Madmen show.

My personal favorite campus entertainment venue. These people are hysterical and if you are lucky enough to see them...you really are one lucky duck! What they do with no script, no props (really), and their crazy imaginations is unbelievable! Seriously, go see their show!

Swim in Round Pond.

I personally have not...however, in the late summer, during pre-season is the perfect time for a late-night swim!

Late-night snacking.

Late night is a fan favorite and you can't leave without getting some fries, froyo or a shake!

Attending a sporting event.

Gordon does not have football, however, there are so many other games to go to that are just as intense! D3 schools can bring game too; go to one and we'll show 'em up!

There are so many unmentioned things that one could go to when they visit Gordon College. But, in such a tight-knit and exciting community, something is always going on and you will never be bored by your experience. So come and visit today!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
