If you're anything like me, grades have got you stressing right now. I've had to talk myself off the ledge of panicking a few times now. I can feel the stress headaches forming in my temples as the date for my first final approaches. I'm stressed and nervous and feeling as if my entire future rides on these next few weeks. A lot of people will tell you to find a way to relax and get away from your stress, but, if you're anything like me, your stress will not just magically go away because you took a bath or went for run. You will stressfully do those activities.
But let's put it all into perspective. Will we never get a job just because we didn't get perfect grades one semester of college? Aren't there bigger problems we should be worrying about, instead of whether or not our GPA is a perfect 4.0? So rather than trying to suppress, ignore or magically erase our stress, let's focus it on other issues, because, honestly, there are bigger problems then getting an A in your Intro Statistics class.
1. The bees are dying at an alarming rate and no one knows why.
I've said it once and I'll say it again: we have to save the bees. What's happening? Why aren't they thriving? If they go, we go.
2. Christmas is coming up and you have no idea what to get anyone.
Since you might not be able to get your parents the gift of straight A's, you're going to have to at least have a back-up plan.
3. New Year's is coming up and you haven't accomplished any of your goals yet.
Is it too late to start training for that half marathon?
4. About 7 million dogs and cats are in the shelter because they're homeless.
According to the ASPCA, only 2.7 million of those are adopted each year. The amount of homeless dogs and cats is impossible to count. The estimated amount of homeless cats alone is about 70 million.
5. People actually think the year is how many years old America is.
Just kidding. This is my friend Sarah making a joke, but people on the internet actually believed she thought this was America's age.
6. There are some colors we will never see.
There are some waves of color that human beings can't see but other animals and insects can see. Doesn't it bother you that there are flies out there enjoying a more colorful world than you?
7. 99% of our oceans are undiscovered.
Isn't it amazing that there is still something mysterious in the world full of technology and Mars landings? But also why aren't we discovering more? There could be mermaids? Or the Megalodon shark?
8. Student loans and money in general.
Instead of worrying about the money you might not be making in the future, worry about all the money you're not making right now.
9. There are people who have never eaten Wawa.
And if you are one of those people, I would definitely worry about myself if I were you.
10. Severe weather is everywhere.
Since starting college, I've experienced a flood, a tornado and a hurricane so I'm not saying it's something you should stress out about. I'm just saying it's not totally impossible.
11. What kind of vacation home you should buy once you graduate college and become super successful.
Guess what? We're all going to be okay. Even though everything is so stressful right now, we're all going make it out alright, and our biggest worry will be where we went to spend our summers. We've got this.
