We're constantly told that the better places in our lives will come in due time, that we need to wait and work hard. You need to wait in college before you get a great job, you need to wait and go on dates before you find the perfect love, and you need to wait as you work hard before you buy that car, go on that vacation, or start the next part of your life. The point is: life is all about waiting, working hard today so that tomorrow is better.
But what if we're sick of waiting?
What happens when you've worked hard for 4 years but now can't find a job? What happens when all those dates fall flat? When you're saving for that new car or cool trip, but you just can't seem to gather enough pennies to actually purchase what you want?
What happens when we're sick of waiting?
You're going to hate me but... be patient.
Yes! Be patient. Take a deep breath, relax, and focus on waiting for what you want. Everything you want will happen, eventually, and while a great 9-5, a lovely apartment, and a new car that actually makes it to work and back are nice, they aren't here in the present now. Science shows that waiting for things actually makes us happier in the long run, but for now, we need to make our own happiness. So yes, be patient and live in the moment instead of constantly reaching for the eventual future. Your time will come and until it does, you should focus on the journey instead of the destination.
There's no point in getting mad or upset about a future that hasn't even finish forming yet. Stop stressing about when the things you're waiting for are going to happen because you will get there when you get there. When you're so focused on waiting to gain your moment, you miss out on everything happening now. Everything comes at the right time, and right now is just not your time.
I know it's hard, but it will happen. Just please, be patient.
