7 Things You Should Let Your College Roommate Know

If you order pizza, remember to throw away the box.

I want to tell my roommate these things that I sometimes forget that I need to tell her. I would like to think that some of these things are relatable. Enjoy!

1. Do the darn dishes!

Stop wasting your time hand washing all the dishes when we have a perfectly good dishwasher right next to it. I promise you are doing me a favor. It takes twice as long to fill the dishwasher up. PLEASE use the dishwasher so I can get my favorite mug back.

2. You are so worthy!

You don’t give yourself enough credit and tend to talk yourself down a lot. Don’t tell me you don’t. We live together you can’t hide it as well as you think.

3. You are so smart.

College gets hard and it’s easy to feel defeated. You will be successful whether you decide to be a teacher or a flight attendant.

4. Kate….

BUY an extra thing of mascara! You always lose them or leave them in people’s cars yet you never remember! I’m always glad to share but apparently, it’s not healthy to share eye products. Merry (early) Christmas ;)

5. Take the trash out!

Sometimes I get frustrated and I’ll wait and see how long it takes until you’ll take it out and then I’ll cave. lol . We both hate doing it but let’s count our blessing that we live so close to the apartment’s dumpster. At least we don’t have to put the trash bags in our cars to take them out!

6. Stop ordering so much Jimmy Johns.

If you get the same sandwich every time – which you do - It’s so much cheaper to buy bread, meat, cheese etc. from the store and make sandwiches at home.

7. When you order/buy pizza

You have to throw the pizza box away! It doesn't fit in the kitchen trash can and it just sits next to it until we remember its there!

Kate, we may not get along all the time but you are like a sister to me. We’ve lived together for the last three months and I can’t imagine having roomed with anyone else.

You may not be living together forever but I’ll always love our adventures together. Thanks for putting up with my crazy!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
