For the people who know me, you all know that my older sister and I are very close; so it’s about time that I write an article about her. Most of the time, she takes herself for granted and she has no idea how amazing she is, so I’m here to tell her and all of you, how kick-ass my sister is.
I’m sorry I was that annoying little sister who wanted to always know what you were doing. I was always obsessed with you as a little kid and now that I’m older…I’m still obsessed with you, and I don’t see that changing ever! Even though you seemed to get annoyed with me pretty quickly, I’ve convinced myself that you adored my annoying charm and slipping you notes under your door when you were hanging out with friends.
You, my dear sister, have always been my saving grace during family functions. I know that I can always count on you to cringe in the corner with me when you know who is acting crazy, or when you know who puts his foot in his mouth. Honestly, I’m not quite sure I could have gotten through half of these functions without you by my side in the corner observing and drinking wine…always wine. But it’s weird because, when you aren’t there, it's like I don’t now how to act, who to talk to, or what to do with my hands.
I appreciate that you are not only my sister, but you took over the role as my protector. I know that I can always count on you to have my back, keep me from making a stupid mistake and, even if I go against your wise advice, you’re there to pick me up, dust me off, and get me through it. You make me feel brave and I can’t thank you enough for that.
I love that people think that we’re twins. Not only do they think that we look alike (I honestly still don’t see it…) but they have no idea how alike we actually are. Sometimes I do or say something that reminds myself of you and I freak out because we are so similar in pretty much every aspect of life. I’m convinced that we are some type of medical marvel and actually are twins, just born 10 years apart.
One quality that I admire about you is that you are always honestly with me, like brutally honest, even when I would prefer you to lie. I always come to you for advice because I know that I can count on you to tell me what I need to hear, not what I want to hear.
Most of all, I love that you’re my best friend. There is no one else that I can be 100 percent myself around. You make me feel brave, confident, silly, and strong. I feel so lucky because not everyone can say that their sister is truly their best friend, and it comforts me knowing that you will always be there for me. I love our dance parties while momma is doing the dishes, I hate that you think it’s funny when you rub your feet on me, I love to hear you jam out to one direction, I hate it when you beat me at Disney scene-it, but, most of all, I love that you’re my sister.
