Things To Thank My Boyfriend For During My First Year Of College

College can be a tough transition for people and I know that it definitely was for me. Going from living in my comfortable bubble in the middle of nowhere to living in a city I'd only visited once was a huge and intimidating change. Whenever college life got difficult, I relied on the one person that I knew would help get me through it, my boyfriend. Going to different colleges isn't easy, but I appreciate him sticking by me every step of the way and have many things to thank him for.

Thank you for listening to me complain and panic about classes.

I know that you had your own classes to worry about that were probably more difficult than mine but you always listened to me complain anyway and tried to help boost my confidence.

Thank you for trying to learn about the new people in my life.

I know it can be hard to try and keep everybody straight, whether it be coworkers, teachers, or people around campus, but you always tried to keep up (and would even help me bash on people from time to time).

Thank you for talking to me any chance you had.

Between classes, work, homework, and friends it can be hard to get in texts throughout the day and calls in at night but you always found time for me. Also, thank you for understanding that Sioux City has the worst phone reception of all time and that I sometimes won't receive your texts for three hours.

Thank you for commuting home to see me.

I can be a bit of an overly attached girlfriend and can go a little bit crazy without seeing you, which is why I love the fact that you come home to see me on the weekends. I know that driving two and a half hours to come home gets old, like really old, but I appreciate it. My three-hour drive definitely wears on me too, but it's worth it.

Thank you for understanding that I need time to be lazy.

I know that you're busy and it might be annoying to hear about how much free time I have, but you never try to make me feel bad about it. Whether I stop responding because I'm getting into a really good episode on Netflix or because I'm taking a nap, you get it.

All in all, thank you for being you.

You're funny, thoughtful, understanding, and everything I need you to be. I couldn't be more thankful to have you in my life. Three more years to go? We got this.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
