New year, new mindset.

9 Things To Take Into 2019

I know a lot of people say that the idea of starting over and becoming a different person just because it's a new year is preposterous. People don't change just because the number at the end of a date does. But there is something refreshing about having another 365 days to experience new things, meet new people, and change your life. No, people don't change at the stroke of midnight, but that doesn't there's anything wrong with taking the construct of a new year and changing your life with it.

1. When something goes wrong, stop and breathe. Then figure out how you're going to handle it.

Sometimes when things go array, we act on impulse. We let our emotions guide our actions, which can sometimes cause even more problems. By stepping back, calming down and then proceeding, you'll approach things with a clearer mind.

2. Don't put effort into someone who won't put effort into you.

The fact of the matter is, some people just don't deserve your time and your effort.

3. Book that plane ticket. Buy those concert tickets. Message that person.

Life is about take chances and living it to the fullest. That might so incredibly cheesy, but when you really think about it...its true. Sure, someday it feels like life if long and hard, but at the end of the day, you only have one life to live. Live it for you and don't have any regrets. What's the worst thing that can happen?

4. Try something new, you might just like it.

Sometimes it's scary to try new things and the fear of the unknown keeps you for doing something or eating something or trying something that might just become your new favorite thing. Try everything once.

5. Forgive, and move on.

If someone wrongs you or hurts you, let go of that grudge. That doesn't mean that you have to allow them back into your life, but forgiving them and moving on feels a lot better than hoarding pain.

6. Fall in love.

Whether it's a person, a song, a movie, or a hobby...find something to love. Find something that you can lose yourself in and distract you from the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life.

7. Remember to take a little time for yourself.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is you and your health. You're the only person that you truly have to answer to. So, take care of yourself. Remember that having a day to just relax and keep to yourself isn't a bad thing.

8. Stop paying so much attention to what others think of you.

This kind of relates back to number 8, but do what makes you happy and screw what other people think. You don't have to answer to them. Sacrificing your own happiness just to look a certain way to someone else isn't worth it.

9. Stop thinking so much.

Don't let that pesky little mind of yours ruin things. I understand that it so much easier said than done, trust me. If you have anxiety like I do, your mind likes to work in overdrive and ruin things. Make a conscious effort to at least try and ignore it.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:
