On May 13, 2015 I took a leap of faith and cut off over 16 inches of my hair! I know none of my sisters at Converse know how I look with hair. But I decided to share that and my journey of chopping it all of. Hey, it's just hair!
All my life I can remember wanting to do a short haircut. I thought it would be the cutest thing! I always promised myself that I would do this in college, but it came sooner than I thought.
I cut all of it off and decided to donate it to women with cancer. I donated a total of 16 inches to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.
Here are a few things you should know before you make the decision to "chop it like its hot"
1. Think this through kid!
Even though it IS just hair, this is a big decision! Hair does grow back but this is how people will see you. Make sure you think long and hard about this
2. Short hair isn't for everyone.
Some people look great! Some people don't have the face for it. But all together it's your attitude that you have with your hair.
3. Think of the style you want
For me it was A LOT of screenshots of short hair and all of them vaguely look the same. Make sure you know what you want before you get to the hairdresser.
4. Make sure you have a good hairdresser
You don't exactly want to go to a cheap place that once cut your bangs WAY too short. For the major chop, you should go to a higher end salon so you know your hair will end up looking good
5. Prepare for everyone asking the following:
"Oh honey, are you okay?"
"Was it over a breakup???"
"Are you gay??"
"Do you want to look like a boy?"
"That isn't a very feminine haircut"
So many relatives, friends and even strangers will ask you these things.
6. If you cut your hair short like I did, I highly recommend donating the hair!
No matter what you choose to do with your hair, always remember you're a queen with or without hair. Donating is an amazing choice and will be an amazing experience for you. So go ahead, queen!
