Things To Do In Dallas During OU/TX Weekend

It’s the week of the Red River Showdown, where the Oklahoma Sooners will (hopefully) beat the Texas Longhorns. As students pack up their cars and make the drive to Dallas for the weekend, they probably haven’t made any plans other than the game on Saturday. Dallas has a lot to offer, and there are some things you shouldn’t miss out on.

The food in Dallas is amazing, and I suggest trying to eat at as many restaurants as possible this weekend. From Mexican to Italian, there are so many options! I also suggest trying to stop by the Truck Yard, where food trucks are endless. With the weather finally starting to cool down, try to grab a table outside no matter where you go.

Dallas is also known for its shopping. Enjoy the weather by stopping in the stores at Highland Village or The Shops at Park Lane, or visit one of the two malls, Northpark and Galleria. With both malls and boutiques, you are sure to find the perfect outfit for your night on the town.

The nightlife in Dallas will not disappoint. Listen to some music at the House of Blues, or dance the night away at one of the city’s many clubs. There are also sports bars and comedy clubs, so there is something for everyone.

The most important thing you cannot miss this weekend is going to the Texas State Fair. It may be pretty crowded on game day, but it is definitely worth it. There is food, music, a ferris wheel, auto shows, cook-offs, animal shows, fireworks and light shows, pig races, acrobats, BMX races, and so much more!

Enjoy this OU holiday by exploring Dallas and cheering on our Sooners. Boomer!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
