8 Things You Can Finally Do Once The School Year Ends

The school year is over or almost over. Congrats! You made it (or at least you're super close). After all those sleepless nights studying, after skipping Netflix to write papers, or ditching friends in order to complete a project, you can now sit back and relax for a bit. Until next semester, that is. But until you're back to your on your school schedule, you have the time to do the things you couldn't during your busy schedule. As someone who barely slept this semester, I wasn't even able to watch a new show or have time to really hang out with people because I was constantly doing homework.

But no more! The semester is finally out of the way, and I can do the things I enjoy again. And so can you.

Here are eight things you can do (or should do) now that the semester is over.

1. Sleep

If you're a college student, chances are you barely slept throughout the semester - and especially during finals. Now that it's over, it's time to catch up on that beauty sleep and nap the day away at least once. It's finally time to get eight hours again.

2. Exercise

Let's be honest. If you're a college student, chances are you had time to eat didn't have the time to exercise. We eat out a lot and although we walk everywhere, we need real exercise to knock off that weight gained by the dining hall's unlimited ice cream bar. With some extra time on our hands, hitting the gym wouldn't be a bad way to spend it.

3. Spend quality time with friends and family

You're going home! And you're going to be there all summer, so make sure you get in touch with some old friends to meet up with when you're not hanging around your family. Take the dog for a walk, treat your parents to dinner, see a movie with friends, bake cookies with your siblings, or simply hang around the house and watch Netflix. Any time is quality time before you head back in September,

4. Binge watch your favorite shows

Nothing like sitting on the couch eating some popcorn as you binge-watch Friends for the fourth time or finally get around to starting Black Mirror. Sure you've taken time away from doing homework to get some episodes of a show in when you weren't supposed to, but now it's perfectly okay to spend a few hours watching Netflix and not feel as if you have something due tomorrow.

5. Revamp your resume and cover letters

After you're done binge-watching, try to edit your resume and any essays to make them the best. Update any courses you've taken, any new clubs or activities, volunteer work, and whatever else to make your resume better than before. While you're at it, practice cover letters while you have time by applying for jobs and internships.

6. Work

College takes up a decent amount of time and chances are you didn't work as much as you really wanted to. In between shows, rack up those hours that you may have lost and if you don't have a summer job, get one. You'll need money for the summer and for next semester.

7. Travel

Unless you have a crazy work schedule, you'll have a lot more freedom than when you were just going to class and doing homework. Take a trip to a nearby city, go hiking, get in the car and take a road trip with close friends, spend a day at the beach. Simply go anywhere you want while you have the ability. You're only young once, explore whatever you can.

8. Take up a hobby

Being busy takes up any free time for hobbies. Once the school year is over, it's time to get back to reading, writing, painting, cooking, knitting, playing video games, or whatever else you've had to give up. Who knows, maybe you can take up a new one based on an interest you had in class or from a friend.

The school year is over, which allows you to do whatever you want without feeling like you have something due next week. That is, until September.

Enjoy while you can!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
