Thanksgiving is a time where people get the chance to reflect on what they're grateful for in life. Every year, I'm thankful for my family, friends, and the comfortable life I get to live because of my parents. This year, though, I'm thankful for so much more.
Every mistake I've ever madeĀ
I've made a lot of mistakes in my lifetime, but I've also learned a lot from them. I don't think I'd be half the person I was today if I hadn't done some incredibly stupid things and suffered the consequences of them.
Laughter
I swear if I'm not crying, I'm laughing. I've found it so much easier to just laugh things off than maintain a serious face and be pissed about everything and everyone. When I see people laugh, I laugh, and when people see me laugh, they're more likely to feel happy and comfortable. Isn't it a wonderful cycle?
The right to voteĀ
As a newly turned 18 year old, I had the chance to exercise my right to vote this midterm election. Even though half of the candidates I voted for lost the election, I felt pretty damn good participating in democracy.
Christmas music
Christmas music is an instant mood-booster and can be played all year round. If you don't believe me, play 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' the next time you feeling like crying and I promise you your tears will go back into your eye sockets as soon as you hear Mariah Carey hit the first note.
Long drives at night
This is by far the most effective form of therapy. Whenever I'm stressed, upset, or need to think, I get in the car, put on some good tunes, and drive until I have some peace of mind.
The list of things I'm thankful for could keep on running, but these were just a few things that particularly stood out to me this year. What are you thankful for?
