15 Things That Girls Who Aren't Girly Want People To Know

1. No, we are not all lesbians.

Just because we do not enjoy shopping or going to get our nails done doesn't mean were a lesbian. It just means that we are low maintenance, and rather just be hanging out.

2. Shopping? No. Thrifting? Yes.

Of course we all don't only love thrift stores, but it is far more exciting to us when we spend $12 on three flannels instead of $40 on one pair of shoes. The clothes also have more character.

3. We dress for ourselves, not for you.

Our outfits tend to reflect our moods and our personality. We are not trying to look nice for a boy, follow a style trend, or look like an athlete, it just happens. We dress for comfort. My Birkenstocks and socks don't define me as a hipster.

4. We have lots of guy friends.

Most guys don't want to be caught up in drama, and neither do we. We just want to chill out, adventure, and go with the flow. Plus, we're very open and rather joke around than have serious conversations.

5. We don't know what to talk about when we are in big groups of girls.

It gets uncomfortable when you're stuck with big groups of girls and have to talk about shoes and makeup for hours. It is like trying to talk to someone who speaks a foreign language. I'm just sitting in the corner like "I like to burp...."

6. Wearing dresses and heels is basically a punishment.

Sure, sometimes I want to wear a dress. But that usually only means that I don't have any clean pants or that I don't want to put on pants.

7. When you do have a crush, he usually thinks of you as a "bro".

Yes, girls get friendzoned too... it is just easier for us to get out.

8. Our bruises, scrapes and scars are not gross, they tell a story.

Scars don't ruin us, they tell a story of a cool adventure, hard time or a stupid moment. And sometimes when you have a really cool bruise you name it Helga...

9. The color pink is not in our closet.

Gross me out. Pink is not for us, some girls like blue.

10. We are down for anything, anytime.

Within reason of course, but for the most part we are down. Whether its a 1 am pizza run, a hike, random trip to a different city, or playing video games, we are in.

11. If the sun is out and it is warm, you will find us outside.

Outside, barefoot, hair in a bun. Nature is where we feel most comfortable.

12. We crack our knuckles, our neck, our back...

And a lot. If it feels right, do it dude!

13. People automatically assume that you are a heartless robot who lacks emotion.

So, maybe I don’t cry over boys, but Marley and Me and and animal cruelty commercials get me every time.

14. We like sports.

We like to watch sports, play sports, and yes we are going to win because we are very competitive and aggressive. And always right, don't forget that one.

15. We are still girls.

No matter how much we say we hate girls, we are one still. We are just our own type of girl. Embrace it!!!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
