5 Things To Do On A Snow Day

What a wonderful winter we're having this Spring.

Snow days give you endless opportunities to get things done, learn something you've always wanted to do, catch up on that television show you've been meaning to, or marathon a movie series (again). Especially with spring cleaning around the corner and television series starting to wrap up, here are five things that you can do on a (spring) snow day to keep you occupied.

1. Clean your living space.

Being trapped inside during a snow day is a perfect opportunity to clean all those things you've been meaning to clean. Now you can finally vacuum your rug or organize your clothes. I usually take the snow days to reorganize my clothes or shoes. I also try to get laundry done so I can actively organize my clothes while doing that as well.

2. Marathon a television show.

Here's your chance to catch up on This is Us or rewatch a season of The Office. Make some popcorn, curl up on the bed or couch, and just hang out while either crying your eyes out as you find out how Jack dies on This is Us or laugh yourself to a stomach ache while watching Michael's shenanigans on The Office. I usually take these wonderful days to catch up on shows that I've missed throughout the week. Or maybe start a new show, like A.P. Bio (highly recommend-so funny!!).

3. Have a movie and popcorn day.

This is the same idea as marathoning a television show, except now's the time to marathon the Harry Potter movies. There is no limit to how many time you can watch all eight Harry Potter Movies. Or, if you're like me, you can rewatch all your favorite Disney movies for the millionth time. Turn Netflix or Hulu on, throw some popcorn in the microwave, curl up with a fluffy blanket and a nice cup of hot chocolate and just watch movies of your choosing. Whether you choose to watch Harry Potter, Disney, or one-star rated horror movies on Netflix, have fun doing it!

4. Read a book.

There is nothing more satisfying than picking up a good book, a large mug of hot chocolate, and having a snack and just curling up and reading all day. Finishing a book in one day, or one sitting is an amazing feeling that should be felt by all. I know each of you has a book you have been meaning to read, whether it is a book for school or one that is coming out as a movie soon.

5. Relax.

School is stressful. Exams are stressful. Snow, when it is supposed to be spring, is stressful. Snow days are a perfect opportunity to just relax. Put a face mask on, grab a drink of your choice, and just relax. Take some you time. Learn something you have always wanted to learn. Take the time to wind down and draw yourself a nice bath or take a long, hot shower. Lay in bed all day and do nothing. The options are endless but the time should be used to help you relax and de-stress.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
