7 Things You Will Miss About Sorority Life, Long After You've Graduated College

It's been three months since I graduated from college, and while I'm enjoying postgrad life so far, there are undoubtedly times where I miss school. I don't miss the essays; projects; and mental breakdowns (at least 100 of them), but I do miss the fun times I had with my sisters during my time in Greek life (once a sister, always a sister). The laughs, the tears, the bonds, the grandiose adventures and even the most chill moments will always remain a mainstay in my heart. If you can relate, this article is for you*!

1. Food runs.

Those moments where all of you are simultaneously hungry and decide to get food on the spot. They say the best way to get to know somebody is over food, and it always rings true with me and my sisters. There's truly nothing like catching up on school and your love lives over some Tijuana Flats or Blaze Pizza.

2. Chapter meetings.

As boring as these weekly meetings can be, it was a chance and a challenge to develop our soft skills and strengthen our bonds as sisters. There's nothing like a healthy debate between the people you love the most, right?

3. Sleepovers.

Spending the night at one of your sister's place will teach you about others as well as yourself. Not to mention it brings you all closer than ever before; especially during events like a retreat.

4. Philanthropy and service.

Doing good by others is always a good idea, and it’s even better when done with friends. What better way to bond than getting your hands dirty and giving back to the community?

5. Study sessions.

If it wasn’t for my sisters, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have been able to graduate, let alone pass my classes. When we studied together over endless caffeine and little sleep, we always got things done.

6. Day trips.

Impromptu adventures are always the best. They're even better spent with your sisters when it's on a random day, after classes with no other plans.

7. Emotional moments.

Through the happy moments with thousands of laughs and the sad and stressful moments with seemingly endless tears, sharing such emotional moments with your sisters only brings you closer than ever before because of how you bare yourself to them.

Not everybody's experience in Greek life will be the same, but hopefully, for many of you, these will apply!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
