8 Things You Missed About College Over Spring Break

Spring Break can be nice, but there are definitely things that I missed about college.

Spring Break is a well needed vacation from all of the college school work. Whether you go somewhere warm or just spend time with your family at home, it is a nice break after midterms. However, there are a lot of things that I know I missed about school during my Spring Break.

1. College friends

Despite it being nice to get a break and see new people, you are going to miss your school friends over break. You see them almost all day every day while at college, so it comes as a shock when you can't walk down the hall and hang out with them.

2. Going to parties

Although it can be nice seeing old high school friends at home, it will definitely not be as fun as being able to go to parties at school.

3. The campus

A change of scenery can be refreshing, but you will definitely miss the familiar walk through campus while you are gone.

4. Availability of food

I definitely did not miss the food at school, for there is nothing like a home-cooked meal. However, nothing beats being able to roll out of bed and walking one minute to a dining hall for "free" food.

5. Living with roommates

Peace and quiet can be nice, but it will be weird waking up and not immediately being surrounded by people. It gets almost lonely.

6. Basketball games

This is more Nova specific but watching the basketball games on the TV is nothing like going to the actual games. It is cool seeing your school on TV thought!

7. Freedom

Don't get me wrong, I love spending time with my parents, but sometimes their parenting can be a little overwhelming. Especially after being used to having basically no supervision, living under your parents control again can be difficult.

8. Campus Corner

There is no fast food place at home that compares to Camp Co. It is the most satisfying late night food in the world, and greatly missed while I was away.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
