2020 is the year I am going to give it my all in all aspects of my life. From academics to friendships, I hope to grow into the person I have always aspired to be.
Unhealthy Sleep Schedule
In 2019, my sleep schedule has been a mess. I pulled countless all-nighters, and on the days after I would be tired at school and unable to retain information during lectures. I would also have to relearn all the lessons taught in class. All of my coursework piled up and caused a unescapable cycle.
The "I Will Do It Tomorrow" Mentality
Procrastination contributed to huge amounts of stress in 2019. I would know that I have an important project or assignment due, but I would wait until the day before it was due to start. Often we find ourselves prioritizing certain tasks and neglecting others, but the neglected tasks come back and haunt you.
Not living in the moment
Often in class, I find myself daydreaming about unrealistic scenarios that are likely to never happen. I also catch myself anticipating about something in the future.
When I multitask, the results are not as good as if I had been focused at one task at a time.
People Who Take More Than They Give
Sacrificing Mental Health to Meet Academic Goals
Sacrificing your sanity for a 4.0 is not the way to go in 2020. Work hard but know your limits.
Unhealthy Eating Habits
2020 is the year we actually eat breakfast.
Staying in your comfort zone
Surrounding yourself with people who do not inspire you
You are a reflection of the five people you spend the most time with.
Excessive Social Media Use
During the summer of 2019, my friends and I spent countless hours scrolling through the For You page. It was fun while it lasted, but lately Tik Tok has become a toxic environment filled with drama and hate.
Failed New Year's Resolutions
2020 is the year you actually go through with your New Year's resolutions.
