Attending the University of Arizona has really changed my perspective on life. From relationships to friendships, college has done more for my outlook on life than I had ever imagined. I wish that I had someone who shared these 5 tips with me as a freshman. Going into college, a lot of people are fairly naive in the sense that they always expect the best out of people all of the time. As these tips describe, make sure that you continue to see the best in people, but at the same time take every situation with a grain of salt. Have fun and love life, but make sure you are smart. Here's a list of the top 5 lessons I have learned so far:

1. Always Be Friendly To Everyone

This is super important because in the beginning of your early years in college, you really don't realize how small of a world the campus can be. The best advice to give is to never make any enemies and always be kind to everyone you meet.

2. College Is Usually Where You Find Your Bridesmaids, Not Your Groom

Of course, there are always exceptions and a lot of people do meet "the one" in college. However, this is something that I had to learn the hard way. Personally, I focused way too much on finding this one special person instead of improving myself and making even more friends. If I could go back, I would have paid much more attention to making more friends rather than boys.

3. Most Boys Are Not Looking For A Relationship At A Fraternity

Despite what some guys might tell you, there are a lot of guys who prey on younger girls and take advantage of their soft and open hearts. I'm not suggesting that you should completely ignore all boys when out, but it is imperative that you take everything with a grain of salt. I wish that someone would have told me this when I was a vulnerable 18 year old. Have fun, but know that this person may not be the same person you met the night before, when you are submerged by strobe lights and loud EDM music.

4. Some Of The Best Nights Are Spent Staying In

In the beginning of my time at the University of Arizona, I focused way too much on turning up. Looking back, some of my best nights were spent watching 'The Bachelor' in my dorm room with my best girlfriends. Realize that you are able to balance out the partying with staying in without fear of major FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).

5. Make Your College Town Your Home

Even in a small town like Tucson, Arizona there is so much that you can get out and go do; it is so important to discover what is around you. Whether it's hiking in new spots, or checking out quirky second hand stores downtown, dedicate a day to exploring what's beyond your campus, I promise it is so much fun!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
