Freshman year brings with it many different things. Even things from the cliche, the good, the bad and the ugly. During my freshman year I learned many things and these are the ones that I found most important.
1. Don't let the first few days of college scare you off from having the most fun time of your life. Just take everything in stride and let the tides of life take you where they may.
2. Time management is key to surviving your first semester and college entirely. So when you have a few hours in between classes instead of napping or binge watching Netflix, do your homework. Not even just kind of do it, I mean FINISH IT.
3. Rush/Recruitment is the most nerve racking and most exciting week of your life. This is when you will get a glimpse of what it is like to be apart of a Greek organization on campus and what will convince you to find your home. It easily is one of the most important weeks of your college life.
4. That you shouldn't waste time on people who don't want you to be a part of their life. If they don't care about spending time with you, you shouldn't waste your time on them either.
5. Thank your roommate for putting up with all of your crap this past year and thank them for probably acting like your mom in someway.
6. Pull your weight in group projects. Otherwise, you will be known as one of the people who you don't want in your group. It's also super annoying, as well as frustrating to have to deal with these type of people. So if there are less of these people in the world, everyone will be better off. So basically don't be "that" guy.
7. The cheesy "get out of your comfort zone" and "try new things" slogans of college. These are two of the most over used phrases that you will hear during your freshman year, but they will honestly have some impact on your life. Since college truly is the time in your life where you can either stay the same person you were entirely, or you can change to make yourself a better person.
8. You will learn how to fully survive with out your parents, meaning: you can now do your own laundry, go buy groceries by yourself an get up for class on time without anyone telling you to get up.
9. Class will be cancelled and you will be thanking whatever higher power you believe in.
10. And lastly, college is so much more than just a piece of paper that you will receive at the end of your four years. You will have learned how to be a true "adult," learned how the world really is, and will have found a group of truly life-long friends.
