Early last week I attended Passion 2018, and for those who aren't familiar with Passion it is a conference centered towards Christian college students around the world. I learned a lot in the three days I spent at Passion and heard many amazing speakers. Here are the some things I think are well worth mentioning from Passion 2018.
1. The more you look forward to the next world, the less you'll want from this one.
This specifically spoke out to me, because I find myself falling into things of the world quite often. Who liked my post, what is this person saying, what's the new app everyone is on and so on, but honestly none of it should really matter.
We all focus too much on things of this world when there is an even greater one waiting for us. With faith in God and trusting in His plan we can expect a much greater reward in heaven.
2. We can know the word of God, but there is a difference in knowing it and living it.
No matter how many bible verses you recite or how many Sundays you get up and go to church, it does not mean a thing unless you are living the word instead of just knowing it.
You can say you are a Christian and claim to follow God, but unless you are living the way he intended then you are not truly following him. Actions speak louder than words and without action behind words they mean nothing.
3. You are the daughter/son of a King.
Christians are so easy to stereotype and are every single day. People feel as though we are entitled and think we are better than everyone else. They believe they will be judge for how they live compared to a Christian lifestyle, however, if you are truly around a follower of God you are mistaken and you yourself have stereotyped them.
We are taught that we are the son/daughter of a king and we should act as such. You were created in God's image and in his image alone. We represent Him and His word, therefore, we must uphold his teachings in how we live our lives. Christians do not act better than everyone else, they're simply recognizing the status they uphold.
4. My sin was great, but His love was greater.
God gave up his only son to die on the cross for our sins and Jesus accepted the fact that he was going to die for us. He died for us so that we could be forgiven and so that we could start new. With his blood shed we were made new again.
Imagine someone dying for you just so you could reinvent yourself and live in a way that you were supposed to be living. We take for granted a love greater than any other love, the love God and his son have for us. He washed us clean and yet still today we forget that our sins have been and will always be forgiven by God. His love is never failing.
