I made it. I managed to survive my first finals season as a college student. It was a long and troublesome process, I cried, I ate more pizza than I ever thought I would and still managed to make it through the long trial. At the beginning of Dead Week, I started writing things that I said out loud to recap my entire experience. These are all out-of-context things that I’ve muttered while working long and hard on my finals whether it came to exams or projects, this was my entire finals season.

1. “I’ve been in the library for 9 hours and only cried twice.”

2. “This is the 3rd pizza I’ve had today.”

3. “Remind me, why is Philosophy an important class?”

4. “You see, there is no time for sleep. It’s not in the schedule.”

5. “I suddenly have a newfound interest in book-binding instead of writing my paper.”

6. “What do you mean it’s the wrong study guide?”

7. “I knew I forgot to study something.”

8. “Whoever made exams start at 8:30 in the morning has a special place in hell waiting for them.”

9. “I’ve been wearing the same shirt all week long.”

10. “I’m probably going to be spending all break fixing my sleep schedule.”

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
