13 Things Only Introverts Will Understand

It's not that introverts don't like people, it's just that sometimes we get a little tired of interacting with others, and need to recharge by being alone. Here are some common things that we introverts can bond over.

1. One of your favorite activities is to sit in your bed with wine, a book and/or Netflix on a Friday night. Alone.

2. You are selectively social, and don’t hang out with people you don’t necessarily like.

3. When you’re already in your sweats, and you really want to cancel plans, but you don’t want to flake for the 500th time.

4. (And you’ve run out of excuses for why you can’t hang out.)

5. When your friend cancels on you before you even get dressed.

6. When you’re in a group of new people, you like to observe the dynamic before contributing to the conversation.

7. You find small talk boring.

8. You get overwhelmed by texting too much, so end up responding to messages a day or two..or a week.. later.

9. No one suspects that you’re a huge goofball in front of your few closest friends.

10. You love when you find a fellow introvert who understands you.

11. You like to go out, but the next day you need to recharge by hiding in your room.

12. When you’ve interacted with way too many people in one day.

13. And lastly, when people might think you’re boring, but you know you’re really fabulous.

Even Shonda Rhimes, winning creator and executive producer of the hit TV shows Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and The Catch agrees that relationships with fictional characters are real. In her book, The Year of Yes she states, "I have spent more time with Meredith and Christina then many of my actual friends...When you watched TV, even spending a full hour with Christina once a week, you were likely spending more time with her then you spent with most people in your life. That relationship was real."

Going to the gym and working out on a daily basis (with breaks once in awhile) has been a great way for me to feel good about myself. It is 100% more than just looking good. Especially after starting college and having the stress and anxiety of tests, assignments, and just figuring out my future, the gym at my school has definitely been a place of relief for me and I have numerous reasons of why everyone should push themselves to get to the gym when they can.

Oh college, lovely, lovely college. A four-year time span that is filled with many highs and many lows. Between procrastinating on an essay that is due at midnight to getting your first library card (if you know what I mean), college is a time that you should not take for granted, yet it is also a time where you feel like your entire world is falling apart. It is a time where one day you can feel like you are on top of the world and then the next day you are 500 feet below the ground surface.
