I've found myself in a big slump right now. I feel as though I am Bill Murray in the movie "Groundhog Day" and constantly reliving the same day over again. I wake up and eat the same breakfast and drink the same coffee. I attend my online classes and then struggle to keep my head above water as I'm flooded with assignments and exams. One of the few things keeping my spirits up right now is the thought of returning to campus in the fall. There are so many exciting things coming up this semester to look forward to that allow me to maintain hope for the future.

People watching

Giphy

One of the first things I plan to do when I have free time next semester is to get a big Starbucks drink from the PSU and people watch. I've been in quarantine for 44 days now and haven't had contact with anyone other than my family. Quite frankly, I miss just seeing other people and watching them interact. Oh! Squirrel watching is also a fun time as well.

Playing in the Hammons Fountain

Giphy

I'm a sucker for a good fountain. As a matter of fact, Hammons Fountain (and the fact that we are allowed to play in it) played a large role in my decision to go to Missouri State. I can't wait until I get to spend a warm summer afternoon splashing around in the fountain with my friends while listening to the carillon bells chime.

Tailgating

Giphy

I suffered from some serious FOMO my freshman year. I was a member of the marching band so I was required to perform at the home football games. I saw my friends posting all over social media about the freebies they would get or the people they'd meet (i.e. alumni Clay Harbor) while tailgating. I can't wait to actually get the chance to enjoy a football tailgate this semester.

Living in my sorority house

Giphy

I am lucky enough to get the opportunity to live with my sorority sisters in the chapter house this upcoming semester. I'm so excited to go on late night adventures with some of my best friends!

Recruitment and welcoming home a new pledge class

Giphy

I'm looking forward to chatting with PNMs and helping the find their new home. I'm even more excited to celebrate and welcome our new members on bid day!

Getting my little

Giphy

I could not possibly put into words how excited I am to get my little this next semester. I may or may not have already started on her basket. I cannot wait to add a new member to my family and to have a little I can guide and shower with endless love.

Interesting classes and a chance to learn something new

Giphy

This upcoming semester I get to take several classes that count towards my theatre major and are incredibly interesting. Such as an acting class taught by Professor Lisa Brescia who is a seasoned Broadway performer. I'm also looking forward to getting to learn about the technical aspect of theatre this upcoming semester as well.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
