Growing up and watching seemingly every movie ever made about college, I, like most people, had a a few pre-conceived notions about what my college experience would be like. Since movies and TV shows mainly focus on what goes on outside of the classroom, I thought I had a pretty solid understanding of what to expect socially. As for academics, I didn't expect it to be all peaches and cream, but I severely underestimated the importance of studying. I'll let you know when I figure out how to properly do that one. However, there are some things everyone should do no matter how busy you are inside or outside of the classroom.

1. Attend a school/local sports game.

College and local sports games are exciting whether you are a big sports fan or not. There is so much energy from everyone involved, and especially if you aren't in a big city, as these sports teams might be the only ones around. Grab your friends, grab your pets, get out there and support your team.

2. Get a picture with the school mascot.

This is textbook college behavior. If you have a school mascot, take a picture with it. Your mom will love it, and maybe a few years down the road you might even love it, too.

3. Get to know a professor.

It is a good idea to get to know at least one professor during your time on campus. You never know what kind of doors it will open, and it could come in very handy if you ever need an important letter of recommendation.

4. Explore the town.

Even if you are isolated from all of humankind, there is usually SOMETHING to do in the nearby area off campus. You won't know unless you go looking, and you could find a place that you and your friends enjoy going to.

5. Visit a friend at his or her school.

It's always a good idea to visit other campuses and see what other college experiences are like compared to your own. Spending the weekend or even the day with a friend doesn't hurt, either. It is always a good time catching up on everything happening in each other's lives, and comparing stories.

6. Go on a trip.

It doesn't even have to be with friends, if being alone is your thing. Just have fun, do you and enjoy yourself. Sometimes we need to get away for a bit to relax and get back to ourselves.

7. Attend a themed party.

There's usually plenty of things to do both on and off campus every weekend. Going to a themed party, or having one of your own with your friend group is a great way to either unwind after a stressful week or prepare for one.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
