Things I Don't Tell My Dad Often Enough

Dad. I wanted to dedicate an entire blog post to you too, since mom got one a while back. So here goes, this is for you dad, and these are just a few of the things I don't tell you often enough.

I know mom takes the spotlight in certain moments when you should be thanked as well. All of those birthday presents, christmas gifts and cards that were clearly marked love mom AND dad. So thank you dad. For each and every one of those presents you ever gave me. Heck, thank you for the entire life you gave me. Thank you for how you provide for our family time after time, working so that our family can have food at every meal, a roof over our heads, and so we can travel to lavish places in Europe every so often. I appreciate you dad and everything you’ve done for me.

To go along with my last point, I want to tell you how much I appreciate you looking out for me, constantly. Whether its checking out the new boy I’m dating or texting me every now and then to check on Syd and I when we’re home alone. I may seem annoyed at the time when I receive the fifth text that night that reads, “whatcha doin :)” but I appreciate the fact that you want to make sure we’re safe and sound at home.

You’re actually pretty funny (don’t make me repeat that statement EVER because I’m only saying it once). From your random gifs, videos, and pictures you share on Facebook to the witty comments that seem to make you cackle for hours, you never fail to bring a smile to my face dad. To go along with that, I’d also like to share how caring you are. Not only do you bring mom flowers every Friday, but on Valentine’s Day, Easter, or any other holiday that comes up you always bring Syd and I flowers too. And I love getting those flowers, and always emerging the victorious one who didn't kill her flowers within the first week.

Spending time with you on daddy daughter dates is another one. I absolutely love it when we get one on one time because we have so much time together. I’ll never forget that last Rangers game we went to, when we literally had the best seats in the house and you wanted us to take a picture together because you were so happy. I’ll also never forget all of those embarrassing, and fun, times when you’d pick me up from somewhere. Let’s travel back in time, shall we? I remember it like it was yesterday: middle school. I had just called and told you I was ready to be picked up from the dance, and you came in, with your car, THROUGH THE EXIT. I was mortified. Now, looking back on it, its hilarious. Also, all of those road trips with your ‘interesting’ music will always stick out in my mind as well.

I love you dad, and I appreciate everything you’ve done, and are doing for me even now. I miss you and I miss the simpler times, when I used to crawl on the kitchen floor and you’d be right there, crawling along next to me. Those were the days. And even though we may not see eye to eye a lot of the time, I’ll always know that I’ll love you and you’ll love me just the same.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
