10 Things All College Students Are Thankful For

Two Words: FREE. FOOD.

College is a wonderfully blissful existence of the three "S Words": Study, Stress, and Sleep. Personally, I know I am often guilty of letting these three "S Words" consume my life. But as we approach Turkey Day 2017, I thought I'd take a step back and name the top ten things I have so very grateful for as a college student...

1. That 8:30 class being cancelled

This one is pretty much a no-brainier. Any extra minute a college student can sleep instead of listening to an endless lecture is a minute well-spent.

2. Finding out the final exam is NOT cumulative

You mean I only will have to cram and teach myself six chapters of sociology instead of twenty? THANK. YOU.

3. Free Food

When the two most powerful words in the college vocabulary merge, the word "thankful" simply does not do this glorious phrase justice.

4. A Generous Curve

This is where my overwhelming sense of thankfulness usually moves me to tears. Me and my GPA are forever grateful for this gift.

5. Surprise Care Packages

Surprise reminders from home about how much you are loved and supported can really do wonders for the over-worked, beyond stressed college student.

6. Finding a clean pair of socks when you thought they were all dirty

Another day to procrastinate doing laundry? Um, yes please!

7. Ordering a small coffee but the barista accidentally makes a large instead

A free caffeine upgrade?! This is the type of extreme thankfulness the Pilgrims felt on that first Turkey Day, right?!

8. Amazon Prime

What do you mean that book you assigned for me to read at the beginning of the semester is actually going to be on the exam? I didn't even buy it! *Cue Amazon Prime student discounted membership two-day delivery saving me and my grade*

9. Showering in the "good" communal shower

Let's be honest, there's one shower stall that is superior to all the other showers in the dorm bathroom. Maybe it has less stray hairs, slightly better water pressure, or just simply has a more comforting vibe. Whatever the case may be, it's always a better time when you and your shower shoes get to bask under the hot water emitted from this particular shower head.

10. Realizing you're living the best four years of your life

I will forever be grateful for the gift I have been given to receive an outstanding education while making life-long friends and memories. I love being a college student and am so thankful for all the opportunities I have been blessed with during this special time in my life!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving, everyone! Eat lots of turkey, spend time with the ones you love, and be thankful for all that you have been given!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
