Going to Vegas can be an exciting time. There are so many places to see, restaurants to eat at, and shows to see. However, Vegas is a world of its own and there are somethings you should know before booking or taking your trip.

1. Resort fees

When looking at hotel costs the price you see listed online will not be the final price. Once you get to check out taxes and the resort fee gets added on and this sometimes can make the room hundreds of dollars more expensive than planned.

So when looking at Vegas hotels always go to the check out page before deciding which one to book so you don't risk booking a room way out of the budget.

2. Know the dress codes of places before leaving.

This is important when it comes to shows and clubs. Know if there is a dress code of these places before you go so that you don't have to do last minute shopping or risk not getting in somewhere. Especially at clubs bouncers will not make exceptions for you so it's better to come prepared than to be turned away.

3. Choose a hotel location that's right for you.

Location is everything in Vegas. Do you want to be off the strip and have to get transportation to and from the tourist attractions every day? Do you want to pay more to be on the strip and close to everything? and then there's deciding whether to be in the middle or on one end of the strip or the other.

Each option is different for different people know how much you're willing to spend and waste time on using transportation and if it's worth being close to everything. Once you're there it's hard to change where you're staying so it's better to plan ahead and pick a hotel location that is best for you, your budget, and your trip.

4. Don't plan on buying drinks at the club.

Expect to pay $12-$20 per drink when eating out or going out. If you can afford that for multiple drinks good for you! If you're like me and you live on a tighter budget my recommendation is drinking before you go out.

Don't go overboard and partake in unhealthy drinking behaviors, but it's good to spend more time drinking in your hotel and then going out later than going to the club too early and paying way more for drinks than anyone ever should.

5. Look at multiple places before buying show tickets.

Show tickets are different prices at different places. Do your research and don't buy the first site or place you go to so that you can make sure you get your money's worth.

6. Use rideshare apps.

Uber is sometimes a lot cheaper than the taxis are and it's a great way to save money.

7. Save your money before going.

Vegas is expensive! If you're going to go, make sure to save your money so you can afford meals and the entertainment that's there.

Keep these tips in mind and you'll slay when you hit up Vegas.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
