Adulthood is not rainbows and unicorns. Some days are overwhelming, some days nothing goes how you planned, and if you’re anything like me, everything has a plan. Life isn’t easy, but the old wives’ tale says “nothing good comes easy” and although it is hard to reconcile how something good is going to come out of your stress, this wives’ tale comes true eventually. There are days when you just want to stay in bed all day and forget about all the things you have to do, and everyday can’t be the greatest day of your life, but the best way to look at it is remembering that you have survived all your bad days; things will get better. As someone who stresses over almost everything, I have realized a few things over my years of stressing:
You are normal
Everyone stresses, literally everyone. Some people stress more, some people stress less, and people stress for different reason, but stress is stress and it comes natural; you are normal. Just because you stress more than someone else, doesn’t make you any less human.
It will all get better in time
Whether you are stressing about something coming up (like a wedding, test, event, etc.) or something that has been happening, the day will come when you can stress no longer. Things will change over time and your stress will slowly fade away as the thing you are stressing over passes.
You are loved
Even if you stress about everything, like me, you are still loved. Just because you stress a lot, doesn’t make you a bad person, in some ways it shows how caring you are. Your family and significant others love you through your stress, and they will love you beyond the days of your stress.
Don’t let your stress overwhelm you
You are worth more than your stress. I know sometimes you feel like you are just a walking body of stress, but you have to remember that good days are coming. When you start letting stress overwhelm you, you let stress change who you are. You stress doesn’t define you. Keep your head up, princess.
Remember the goal
All stress stems from something that can easily be overcome or from something that is coming up. Remember you stress for a reason; you strive for perfection and won’t settle for less. Remember that your stress is all part of a bigger plan, something bigger than you know. Stand your ground, don’t let someone else try to belittle you because of your stress, God’s got a plan for you.
Stress can easily overwhelm you, change you, make you feel like a completely different person with completely different feelings; if you let stress overwhelm you, it will. Never forget that you are important, you are loved, you are worth more than your stress. Stress will pass, better days are coming. Never forget that you have a higher power with open ears, who will accept you no matter how bad you think you are, or how much you stress. God is still working on you.
