As most people know, starting college is one of the biggest journeys you will go through in life.

Especially if you're going away from home. It is the first time you experience life yourself. Don't get me wrong, you're not alone completely but you no longer have your Mom or Dad, Aunt or Uncle, ect. right there when your need them. The final week before you move away, you experience so many emotions that you won't know what to do with yourself. Don't worry you're not alone. These 5 emotions will hit you like a brick wall when it comes to thinking about starting college, and what to do to ease those thoughts.

1. Stress

College : An educational institution. Where you go to further your education. When freshman first think of college during high school they think of partying. Once you think about what college is really there for you begin to stress. Whether you're stressing about managing a long distance relationship or trying to stay on top of your grades, you're going to stress, and if you're like me, you'll think about missing that alarm for you're 8 a.m. Just breath. You're not there yet so need to stress. But to help from getting stressed later in the year make sure you manage time!

2. Uncertain

Not everyone will relate to this emotion, but I know some people will because I most definitely did. As this school year drew closer I began to become uncertain about my choice of school. I actually started to think that I had chosen the wrong school because I was so scared to go off. But the truth is I didn't, and neither did you. You chose your school because you felt at home and welcomed. If you didn't, I'm sorry to break it to you but you did not chose the right school. Just be confident in your decision and remind yourself in why you picked your school of choice.

3. Heartbroken

As you draw closer to moving away you begin to realize all the people you may never see again. How that best friend you've loved so dearly is going 500 miles away and you may not see them for a while. Thinking about all the people you're leaving at home breaks you're heart. But most of all, leaving the familiar to experience the unfamiliar. When it comes to human nature we always feel comfortable being in the know. The truth is, your soon to be "new" home will be the familiar, and all those unknown people will become your best friends. So don't dwell on being heartbroken, instead embrace the idea of going off to the unfamiliar.

4. Lonely

Being lonely is probably one fear that every living thing despises and fears. Loneliness is scary to think about and nobody want's to experience it. Unfortunately, everyone will experience this emotion. If you're coming from a high school and you don't know a single person going to the same college as you, chance are you're not alone. Actually, you're most definitely not alone. Lots of people are going off to places they don't know a single soul so they're going to be lonely. Of course nobody is going to admit they're lonely, but that is the first step to take to not being lonely. Go out of your way and talk with those around you.

But the most important...

5. Excitement

After all you're overthinking is done, you feel the excitement you once did when you first thought about college. Going away to start your new chapter in you're life and it's amazing! You start to think of all the new faces you'll meet and all the fun you will have. You yourself will soon have wild college stories to tell those who have shared theirs. Sure college isn't 100% like the movies but you will realize they don't ne This is by far the best emotion you will experience no doubt.

At the end of the day you start to notice all you have to do is breathe and be openminded when it comes to starting freshman year. All those emotions are normal and you're not the only who feels that way. Yes starting college is going to be stressful sometimes, but you will most definitely realize that everything you've gone through to get there is worth it every second!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
