"Thank you guys. I don't know how I'm going to be able to get through this but I think i'll be okay with all of you by my side."
Sarah ran her hand up and down her arm anxiously.
"What are friends for, right?" Teddy chuckled.
"You know I've always had your back. That's never going to change." Lisa reassured.
Jackie smiled.
"What they said."
Sarah let out a deep sigh.
"I guess we'd better get going."
"Shotgun!" Teddy shouted emphatically.
"Teddy, you're driving. You can't be shotgun. Plus we're taking your truck and my car." Lisa laughed.
"Oh, yeah. My bad."
The four piled into the cars and made their way across town to Thomas's place.
"It's just around the corner." Sarah directed Lisa.
"I was just here last week, Sarah."
"Oh, right."
"Are you doing okay? I know this has been a bit of a shock and that he hasn't given you a lot of time to process anything."
"Not really, no. I feel like my world is falling apart. He dropped this bomb on me and then called me an few hours later saying I had to move out completely or he would put my stuff in the trash. It sounds like he isn't going to even try to work things out."
"Were you hoping he would?" Lisa said glancing at Sarah quickly.
"Yeah. I thought he'd at least give it another go. I guess I was just fooling myself." Sarah said wistfully.
Lisa took one hand off of the steering wheel and clasped Sarah's hand reassuringly. Sarah stifled a sob and squeezed Lisa's hand.
"We're here."
Lisa pulled into the driveway and looked at the cozy, white house in front of her. The flower beds she had helped to plant last year were now trampled, mangled messes. Sarah let herself out of the car and went to the door as the guys pulled up behind Lisa. She knocked and waited.
Thomas answered the door wearing worn down jeans and a t-shirt. His graying hair was a tousled mess and his face was streaked with paint. Sarah reached out to wipe some of the paint. Thomas pulled back.
"Don't."
"Thomas, please." Sarah pleaded.
Thomas looked away from her.
"Why is Jack here?" Thomas growled.
"He, Teddy and Lisa came to help grab my things since you decided I need to move out of my own house." Sarah snipped back.
"Look, Sarah, we need to talk about this. Do you mind if we talk inside for a minute?"
"Anything you want to say to me, you can say in front of them."
"Sarah, just, come inside." Thomas begged.
"Fine. You have five minutes."
The two stepped inside. Thomas closed the door softly behind him and led Sarah into their living room. Thomas gestured for her to sit but Sarah remained standing with her arms folded across her chest. Thomas sat facing her.
"This isn't about Jack and it never was." Thomas started hesitantly.
"Then what is it about Thomas?"
"Sarah, there's no easy way to say this so i'm just going to say it outright. There's someone else and there has been for a while. It's over now. I figured you'd never forgive me once you found out and so I put this on Jack and you, but this is all my fault."
Sarah dropped onto the couch in disbelief.
"You...you've been cheating on me?"
"Yes."
