The Ultimate Girls' Night In Must Haves

GNI. It's totally a thing.

OK. I'm all for a fun night out, going on crazy adventures with my friends and having the kind of night you can tell funny stories about in the future. But, to be honest, as I'm getting older (I don't want to talk about it, OK, wrinkles are a myth) some of the best nights my friends and I have had are when we have a GNI -- or girls' night in.

Those nights are the ones that really stick with you over the years, that you can tell at your best friend's wedding one day or laugh about when you're old grannies causing trouble (I'm a sap, I know). So call up your gal pals, it's time to party! (It's really not as lame as I just sounded, I promise...)

Movies:

A classic go-to for me and my friends for a GNI is a good movie. For those of you who love a chick flick, here are 25 of my faves to get you started! They are in no particular order (because how could you possibly rate classics like these??), and seriously, the list could go on and on!

  1. “The Princess Bride” (If you haven’t seen this, I’m not sure I can trust the life choices you are making)
  2. “The Proposal” (Time to do a spiritual dance to “Get Low”)
  3. “Miss Congeniality”
  4. “A Cinderella Story” (Because anyone in their right mind loves Hillary Duff.)
  5. “The Princess Diaries” (I definitely just got up and put this movie in while writing this article)
  6. “She’s the Man” (YES. Just yes.)
  7. “Legally Blonde”
  8. “10 Things I Hate About You”
  9. “Crazy, Stupid, Love” (Excuse me while I drool over Ryan Gosling...)
  10. “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”
  11. “Mean Girls” (We still wear pink on Wednesdays)
  12. 12. “Ever After”
  13. “13 Going on 30”
  14. “Clueless”
  15. “Pretty Woman”
  16. “The Devil Wears Prada”
  17. “Sweet Home Alabama”
  18. “The Parent Trap” (The ultimate inspiration for cool handshakes and clever schemes)
  19. “Pitch Perfect”
  20. “P.S. I Love You” (Cry-fest, anyone?)
  21. “The Notebook” (More tissues, please.)
  22. “The Lucky One”
  23. “The Longest Ride”
  24. “Bride Wars”
  25. “A Walk to Remember” (Nicholas Sparks just likes to make us cry, doesn’t he?)

Board games:

OK, take back that eye roll. Board games can be super fun, especially if you have a group of at least four or five. A throwback to your childhood, a little competition and side-cramp-inducing laughter is pretty much a guarantee! Here are some fun ones!

  1. Puzzles (puzzle and wine nights are my jam)
  2. Cards Against Humanity
  3. Mad Gab or Watch Ya’ Mouth
  4. Sorry
  5. A variation of Uno
  6. Jenga
  7. Farkle
  8. Smart Ass

Food:

For us, we tend to stick to the easy, prepackaged yumminess like Oreos, chips, popcorn, etc. But if you want to try some fun recipes, check these out:

1. Chocolate Fondue

Grab some pretzels, graham crackers, fruit, marshmallows and whatever else your little heart desires for dipping, and you are good to go!

2. Puppy Chow

There are so many different kinds to try, so take your pick!

3. Chewy Soft Pretzels

This one takes a little more time, but come on. I mean, soft pretzels? Uh, YES.

4. Fun Popcorn

OK, my mouth is watering. Great.

5. Fruit & Yummy Dip

Because you just can't go wrong with this!

Drinks:

Trying fun drinks is a must! They don’t have to be alcoholic, either — there are a ridiculous number of fun drink recipes (hello, Pinterest!). Or, if you’re over 21, trying different cocktails can be fun. If you’re like me, the sweeter, the better!

The best part about girls’ night in, though? No makeup. No fixing your hair. And yes, pajamas are required.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
