Dear Tom,

I know we haven't spoken since I left, but I need you to know you are the reason I knew I wanted to be a management major before I even started college. When I applied to Pier 500 at the age of 15, I had no idea you and that restaurant would mean so much to me and I can honestly say that if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be half the person I am today.

Tom, I'll never be able to thank you enough for all that you have done for me but there are a few things that I especially want to thank you for. First, I want to thank you for being like a father to me. You have the biggest heart and you are always there for me regardless of the situation. I can't thank you enough for never letting me go through things alone. Thank you for always making time to meet with me and genuinely caring about me as a person, not just a worker. Next, thank you for giving me every opportunity to be great. Thank you for always having a plan for me. You exposed me to everything you could before I went to college before I even started my degree. You made me into a leader. You made me special. You made me understand the quote "when you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe then you will be successful". You were the one to teach me the lost art of sacrifice and that's what sets me apart from others, so thank you. Thank you for seeing something in me that no one else did. Thank you for never giving up on me even when I wanted to give up on myself. Thank you for investing in me. Thank you for giving me confidence in myself. Thanking you for bringing out qualities I never knew I had. Thank you for never letting me hang my head. But thank you for being hard on me, I'm better because of it. Lastly, thank you for being one of my biggest fans. You have no idea how much it means to me to hear you say that you support me regardless of where I end up. Thank you for wanting what's best for me and meaning it. Tom Hommes, you made me a better person and I am forever grateful for you and Pier 500. You will always be one of my greatest inspirations.

Thank you for watching me grow up these last 3 years. It has been an honor and a privilege to work under you. Pier 500 got a good one with you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
