Living in a small town, it’s not always easy making a decision to leave home. You grew up there, your friends and family are there, this is your safety net. You know all your favorite food spots, clothing stores, and where the local hang out spots are. But, now its time for something new. We live in a big world, with many opportunities and many new places to call home. Always remember that you have your small town to get back to. This will always be your home and the place you will never forget. Which is why it's time to leave and experience something new.

Leaving home is the easy part, adjusting to a new place is the tricky part. Moving somewhere far away from your small town is a big deal. Be proud of yourself for knowing you wanted more than what your home town had to offer. Whether it's an hour away or a four hour plane ride, just remember you are capable of anything. Channel your inner free spirit and open yourself to new opportunities that are to come with your new home.

Homesick? Don’t be afraid to call friends and family and ask them how your town is doing. Visit whenever you need to because this is your small town and this will forever be your home. Just remember that your small town will always be there, its not going anywhere. So, go find a new town and go experience your new home.

Moving away from what you know, you get to learn all sorts of stuff you didn’t know about yourself. Like how you actually have to start conversations with random people to create friendships. How you have to get in your car and get lost just to find the Target that was one street away from your house. That you are going to have to adjust to the way people do things and learn about your new community.

To the small town I left behind I will never forget you. You made me into the person I am today and I will always cherish the memories you have given me. I promise to come back and visit when I can, but know that I am experiencing new places and that I will always remember where I came from.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
