As 2016 comes to a close it is a time for reflection, resolutions, criticisms and much more. I have published a few works since I've been writing and by suggestion of my editor, I have decided to compile my favorites in this list. To me, these are my best pieces but that may not be the case in your opinion!

Here are eight of my favorite articles from least favorite to most favorite!

8. My Favorite Star Trek Characters

https://www.theodysseyonline.com/favorite-star-trek-characters

Star Trek's characters are unique and memorable. Their personalities tend to help with this fact because they're very significant to the series. Here is a list of my top favorites-- Engage!

Thoughts:While this places low according to order on my list, this does not mark how I feel about the Star Trek franchise. I love Star Trek but this article isn't the most amazing piece I've ever written. It is a fun read for me though and it was my release to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, a monumental moment. I still wonder what my fellow Trekkies' lists consist of.

7. The Rock Band Experience

https://www.theodysseyonline.com/rock-band-experience

Music games are one of the most interesting game genres to me; they have been since Dance Dance Revolution. I grew up playing music games and I continue to do so well into my adult years. I've tried all different types, various Guitar Heroes, some Japanese games, but my favorite ended up being Rock Band and it still is today.

Thoughts:I'm a little bit of a video gaming nerd so I couldn't resist writing an article on one of my favorite games to play. It was fun adding pictures of my band and reflecting on my pretend future rock-stardom. If only I could really be a rockstar!

6. Through The Concert Glass: Truly Appreciating Music

https://www.theodysseyonline.com/live-performances-appreciating-music

Music is an essential part of everyday life; it's all around you everywhere you go. We are fortunate because we live in a world where music is easy to access. It wasn't always like that, however. In the old days, people had to go out to hear music which meant it was always played live. Today we live in a world of recorded music, stuff that has been mixed down a few times before reaching us. In my opinion, nothing beats the live music experience.

Thoughts:Live music will always be one of the best ways to experience music to me, I have had so many wonderful concert experiences and I treasure each memory. This article was fun to write and I loved focusing on my first love: music. If only I could actually play music!

5. Sci-Fi Women

https://www.theodysseyonline.com/sci-fi-women

It takes good characters to sell anything, especially in the crazy world of science fiction. Often, I focus on male characters but for this one, I want to look at the kick butt females I love most, here are 5 of my favorites!

Thoughts:Okay... so I'm a really big geek, oh well, I'm proud of it! This really needed a cooler title, what was I thinking for this headline? I had a lot of fun focusing on female characters, even if it's not something I always do. It's true that female characters are often overlooked, things are changing in recent years but it still happens.

4. 15 Things I Learned From Friends

https://www.theodysseyonline.com/15-things-learned-friends

Some of the best advice comes from the weirdest places and some of the greatest sitcoms came from the 90s and one of the best was Friends. Friends had one of the most easy to relate to plots and it almost always made people feel better, it continues to be one of the most popular shows today.

Thoughts:This was my second video and I truly feel this one came out better than the first. It took me practically all day to make this video but the result was great. This is very audience specific but I hope the humor laced throughout the video made people laugh.

3. Lucky 7 Reasons Lock Haven Rocks

https://www.theodysseyonline.com/lucky-seven-reasons-lock-haven-rocks

Lock Haven and Lock Haven University are both amazing places to go, and they both share something pretty great — a small community life. In this list we're going to look at why Lock Haven rocks so much

Thoughts:My very first Odyssey article and a spirit filled one at that! I love how this list came out, it was a blast to write about. This article is laced with beautiful pictures from Lock Haven which left me feeling very school-sick. I had a lot of great memories there and I'd do anything to travel back in time to the middle of my college career. While I'm not in a bad place now I could be in a better one and I think the middle of College was when I was at my best. I wish I could turn back time.

2. Remembering Unity In Light of the Trump Victory

https://www.theodysseyonline.com/remembering-unity-light-trump-victory

In light of the Trump victory, there have been so many reports lately of so much violence all over the United States. I think we've forgotten what it means to be a united people, we shouldn't be criticizing the people closest to us over their own opinions. Respect everyone because if we continue this senseless violence all we're doing is regressing backwards in time.

Thoughts:This was an article I wrote when I was the most moved. I wasn't thrilled about the election but I think the more troublesome part of everything was how we, as Americans, treated those around us just for a differing opinion. I love how this article came out and I hope it spoke to the few who read it on the level I was aiming for.

1. To Someone Important: Thank you, I couldn't have gotten through without you.

https://www.theodysseyonline.com/someone-important

My dad has taught me so much and as I move into my adult years I'm not as scared as I would have been without his amazing guidance. I'm still quite young, so even today I'm still learning but he continues to make sure I'm on the right path

Thoughts: This was one of my most personal articles I've ever written and it was to one of the most important people in my life, my father. I'm so glad I had the ability to put down on paper how I feel about everything he's done, it was great to share with him and I know it meant a lot to him. I still don't know what I'd do without him.

So there you have it, my list of favorites from 2016, I look forward to writing more in 2017.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
