Dear Caitlin and Paige,

It's weird to think that we met only a little more than a year ago because honestly, I don't know what I'd do without you guys. Caitlin, I remember the day you messaged me on Facebook asking if I was still looking for a roommate. Choosing who to spend a year in a cramped dorm room with was not an easy task especially since I couldn't get all of those roommate horror stories out of my head. You were coming from Kansas so there wasn't much opportunity to meet up beforehand.

Sure we talked a little on the phone from time to time about coordinating Pottery Barn duvet covers and general room décor and knew we were both planning to go through sorority recruitment, but I didn't know where our friendship was ultimately headed. It seemed like fate because not only did we become inseparable friends but also ended up as sorority sisters. You're organized, compassionate, and you always keep me from procrastinating.

You were my very first roommate and I truly believe that we are meant to be lifelong friends. I'm incredibly grateful to have a friend like you that I can always be my quirky, ditzy self around.

Paige, I was lucky enough to have met you during our first week in Gamma Phi Beta. You were one of the funniest people I had ever met and also one of the friendliest. We had an instant connection. It was so easy to be friends with you; I could complain and you would listen and you knew I'd do the same for you.

When I'm upset or angry you always know how to make me laugh. You are my greatest ally when I need one. Even our most mundane conversations are enjoyable and usually end up with us bursting out into laughter. You're laid back and super easy going, which helps me to remain calm even when I'm freaking out on the inside.

So, to the girl I can be my crazy and goofy self around, thank you for everything you've done for me and for always sticking by my side.

From grocery shopping and coffee runs to sorority service events and football games, the three of us tend to do everything together whether we initially plan to or not. I can stay out all day just running errands with you guys or stay in all night eating takeout and binge-watching Netflix.

I'm writing this letter because I want you to know how blessed I feel to have you both in my life. Good girlfriends are hard to come by especially with all the drama and stress that comes with college and I was lucky enough to find not one but two.

I'm thankful for all the memories I have made with y'all this past year and I'm looking forward to all the new memories we will make in the years to come.

So, thank you to the two people in this world that I know I can always count on and who will forever be in my life. Thank you for not only being my roommates but also my best friends.

Love,

Francesca

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
