Tommy Wiseau’s "The Room" is probably one of the greatest disasters of cinema.
This movie produced, written, directed by, and starring Tommy Wiseau follows Johnny, a wealthy banker from San Francisco. In the upcoming weeks, he is set to marry his longtime lover, Lisa. Little does he know that Lisa has become bored with Johnny and starts cheating on him with his best friend, Mark.
There are other minor subplots that do not find themselves being resolved like that of Lisa’s mother’s breast cancer and Denny, the boy who takes or sells drugs (it’s very unclear) while Johnny pays for his college, though they have no relation.
There is so much to be said about how this movie found it’s rise to fame and what it is now. It has spawned the new movie "The Disaster Artist" starring James Franco and Seth Rogen, and before that many of the lines found themselves becoming internet memes.
From the badly made sets to the inclusion of about four locations, "The Room" is so bad that it’s good. The terrible acting from Wiseau and the unnecessary scenes that don’t fit make this movie amazing and hilarious. Sometimes, the most awkward interactions are the ones that ensure the most hilarity.
"The Room" is a terrible disaster, but also a masterpiece. No review or article could ever give you the same experience you receive when you see "The Room" for the first time.
