Goodbye classes, hello Spring Break

Currently, I'm writing this article from the comfort of my hotel room overlooking the mountains of Colorado. How did I end up here? I'm in the middle of a great American road trip with my favorite person. It's been a series of ups, downs, and surprises, but a great experience nonetheless.

The articles online set you up with false expectations of your twenties, but give you a glimmer of hope. One of the things that is almost always suggested is taking a road trip to discover places that you've always talked about going to. I'll be the first to come out and say that I hate sitting in a car. A road trip is something that I've always talked about doing, but never moved forward with. Granted, all you have to do is just sit there, but sitting there's gets boring, it's anxiety-ridden driving around with all of these reckless drivers, and I get carsick so there's not much I can do but just stare at the open road. Despite all of this, however, this road trip has been one of my favorite vacations so far.

We started our journey in New Orleans, which wasn't really our scene. Instead, it was just something that we could check off on our list of places to visit. Then, we made a pit stop in the middle of nowhere town in Texas to settle down after a long day of driving. The morning we left for Texas, I was surprised to find out that our next journey was to Colorado so I could see where my favorite veterinary show is filmed. Truly the coolest thing ever to see something you've watched on TV for so long come to life before your eyes.

Our next stop is Saint Louis, which we're staying for a week before we hit the road back to Florida. I'm sure with the way this trip has been shaping out so far, there might be a few surprise stops along the way.

What I've learned from a road trip, so far, is that you may get super tired in the process, but it's worth it. You may get upset, annoyed, and tired of driving around, but at the end of the day, trekking the country with someone you enjoy having around is great. I'm not here to be a cliched "you need to do this to be successful in your twenties" article, but I am here to tell you to take your chance with a road trip. You just might be surprised at what you find along the way.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
