To My Old Best Friend That Came Back Into My Life

We were never exes.

To My Old Best Friend That Came Back Into My Life
Emerson Perry

Man do the years fly.

I remember when we became best friends in elementary school. We were attached at the hip. We did everything together. Spending our summers glued together, water skiing on the warm sunny days, all-night skating, watching every Twilight movie in theaters and late night talks about life... I'm glad I spent those days with you.

We were there for each other, from our horrible, horrible break ups we went through in high school to just wanting each other's company. As we got old enough to drive, we had so many nights of just driving around and having late night snacks at Sonic. We would dream of the day when we would graduate high school together, and I am so glad I graduated with you a few years ago.

Yes, we would have our fights and stupid arguments, but I am glad I had them with you. I grew up with you; I became a woman with you. You've helped me become the woman I am today. You were there for it all, through the good and the bad.

Then we just stopped talking.

It was both of our faults. We did try, but I guess it was time for our space apart.

I thought about you all the time. I always hoped you were OK and doing well. I always wondered what you were doing and hoped that you were happy. You deserve to be happy. Then, I messaged you one day and a few days later.. I got a message back from you. We planned to hang out the next day while you were in town, and I was so, so excited to see you.

We had a fun time catching up and being ourselves again. It felt like we were never a part a single day, let alone the past two years. Just driving around like we used to, just singing our heads off and laughing uncontrollably. AND YOU STILL LAUGH AT MY JOKES! I am so glad that I'm not the only person who does!

I went home crying because I was so happy to see you again, but so sad because I missed you so much. I've missed you. I am so glad you are back in my life again.

To me, you've always been my best friend. You know everything about me. You know exactly what I am thinking when I make a certain face still. I know we have been a part for so long, but I am so happy we came back into each other's lives.

We were never ex best friends, and we never will be.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
