The Reason We Binge Watch As Explained By An Expert

Binge watching. We all do it. Every time we see Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime etc. pop up somewhere, we get this heartwarming, and calming feeling that overcomes us. But why? Well I am here to help you understand the reasons we binge watch because I am an expert.

1. You don’t have to wait for the next episode

The next episode is right there waiting for you. You don't have to wait two weeks for the next episode to come out at exactly 8 p.m on Monday nights. You are less stressed about what is going to happen, because you know there are clearly 7 more episodes of season 4 and 5 more seasons after this one.

2. It is an escape from the bad in life

Watch an hour of the news a day to stay somewhat updated and then avoid all of the other drama on social media and the normal television. When we binge watch, we have no time for stupidity in the real world.

3. It helps you to avoid personal problems

Is your mom being annoying? Are your siblings causing fights? Binge watching helps you get through it. You can avoid your personal drama while being wrapped up in the drama of a character's life.

4. There are a variety of shows to watch

From Supernatural to Friends to Grey's Anatomy. All of your favorite genres to jump from show to show whenever you want...and watch 10 seasons of it within a month.

5. If you miss an episode, you can re-watch it

When we binge watch, we often fall asleep watching hours of episodes. On the plus side, we can re-watch the episode we missed because we didn't have to watch it in real time.

6. Your streaming site is always with you

With technology now, your favorite way to binge watch is available everywhere. Your Wii, your Xbox, your Smart TV, and your cell phone all can be ways to feed your addiction.

7. The characters become a part your friends and family

When Derek and Meredith are fighting, or when Michael Scofield ends up in a different jail, you feel the sadness or the stress the characters are feeling. They become real which makes it more fun! Binge watching becomes an actual part of life, and that is okay. We all do it, why not just admit it?

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
