When people hear the word "Christmas" most people think of presents and shopping. While I love giving and receiving presents, that's not really what Christmas is all about. I believe everyone needs to take a step back this holiday season and focus less on the money part of Christmas and more on the meaning behind it.
To me, Christmas is a time to relax and be with family and friends. Whether it's sharing a meal, or doing an activity the best part is that you are with the people you love.
For many, going to holiday parties, and other events is another added stress. Everyone is so wrapped up in their outfits, and making sure they say hi to everyone they need to that they don't enjoy themselves. You should not go to a holiday event you don't want to be apart of, and if you do go to an event, have meaningful conversations with people you actually care about.
Being away at school has brought a new meaning to the holiday season for me.
I feel so lucky and fortunate, to be able to study five hours away from home, and also be able to take a month off and spend it at home with the ones I love. The best Christmas present I could ask for this year is the one I just got, being able to come home.
So many get wrapped up in buying their loved ones the perfect present, and spending lots of money on this gift. While gifts are great, and everyone loves them, that should not be important. Christmas can also be a stressful time for many, because buying presents means spending extra money that many people don't have.
Many adults are not fond of the holiday season, and this is a shame. This holiday season I believe everyone should think back to when they were a little kid, and bring the joy and magic they felt when they were young with them.
