Waking up that morning it felt like your average Friday, except it wasn’t. It was the day I was seeing Justin Bieber. I would be in the same arena as Justin Bieber in just a few hours. As soon as I got out of bed I played Sorry, but I was definitely not sorry as I was seeing Justin Bieber that day. The rest of the day was a surreal blur, until I was in my seat waiting for Bieber to grace us with his presence.
Moxie Raia and Post Malone were the opening acts at the concert. Although both acts seemed a little arbitrary they both were surprisingly good. Post Malone sang White Iverson twice, which may be due to the fact that he does not have many hit songs. Justin Bieber, truthfully, does not need any hype-man/opening act because he is Justin Bieber.
As soon as Bieber went onto the stage a loud shriek overcame the arena. Every single person in there was screaming at the top of his or her lungs, and yes I was definitely one of them. He looked just as beautiful as I thought he would, even if I was in the 400-section. The dancing from, not only his dancers, but from Justin himself was great, the singing was better, but the commentary from Bieber in between songs was the best. The Biebs spoke about finding his purpose in life and the reason he named his tour and album Purpose. He reflected back to times when he made questionable decisions and he offered advice to his fans saying, instead of learning from your own mistakes also learn from the mistakes of others.
During one of the pauses in between songs Justin asked the audience what ages they were. A surprise to Bieber (and me) was there was a significant amount of 26 and 27-year-olds in the audience. There has been a shift in the ages of his fans from the last tour he had to this one. Not only have his fans grown up, but he has also grown up causing him to attract an older demographic. Although his album had many hits he also sang his throwbacks, which included U Smile, As Long As You Love Me, Boyfriend, and Baby (of course).
At the end of the concert Bieber hugged each one of his dancers, I have never wished to be a background dancer more in my life. After the concert hundreds of people waited outside the doors to a limo, convinced that it was Justin Bieber’s, until security came out and informed us that it was actually not. Overall the concert was life-changing and I cannot wait to see Justin Bieber the next time he comes to D.C. If you weren’t at the Justin Bieber concert this time well, Never Say Never.
Yup.
