In the world of sports, athletes need their rest, they can’t play every game in the season. Some players sit to recover from injury, or they need a game off to rest. Some people don’t have a problem with sitting down star players for rest, but others find it to be a problem.

On Wednesday, the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers lost 103-93 on the road against the Indiana Pacers. LeBron James, last season’s Finals MVP for the Cavaliers was rested and did not play against the Pacers. One of the many positives about James is, he is one of the most durable players in the league and although he deserves and needs rest, there is a problem with him sitting out games.

James is the best player in basketball, he is one of the greatest and most talented players that has ever played in the NBA, so he is going to be a must-see player when he is playing. If the Cavaliers are on the road, there are going to be a lot of people in attendance to see James because how great he is and how often he plays in other cities in a season. That also goes for other stars in the league like Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, Dwyane Wade, James Harden, and more.

Imagine, paying over a hundred dollars for good seats to go see one of the great players in the league play, and it turns out he doesn’t play because of rest. The average fan would be frustrated because the fan won’t get what he or she paid for, and there’s a good possibility that the fan will have to wait till next season to see that player because of the way the NBA schedule is set up. If it’s a team from the opposite conference, the fan will see that team once a season, if it’s in the same conference, there’s a possibility that the team will play there again. Even though there’s a possibility of seeing the team again, the fan has to pay a lot of money again to get a good seat again.

What is the solution to this? Sit the players during their home games. There are 41 home games in the NBA season. If the coach sits the player for rest for a home game, there are 40 more games to choose from during the season. A fan could buy tickets again, and they don’t have to wait months, or even a year to see the player again unless he’s injured. There’s not much else to do, stars need their rest, but the fans deserve their money's worth, until the NBA changes its schedule, this will be a problem in the NBA.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
