Do you have a glass-half-full or a glass-half-empty outlook on life? Whichever outlook it may be, there is always room in life to add some positivity. Negativity can be such an overpowering trait. Take time to decrease your negativity by adding some positive traits to your life.
Find the positive in each negative moment. Life can be busy, stressful, and sometimes things don’t always go the way we intend for them to go. Your car broke down, you spilled coffee on your shirt, and you’re running late to work. Although all of those things may seem like they’re impossible to get over, it is important to find a positive in order to turn your day around. Your car may have broken down, but it can be fixed. You spilled coffee on your shirt, but it’s okay because you hated that shirt anyway. You’re running late to work, but it’s okay because you’ve never been late before. Finding a positive really isn’t as hard as it seems, and it really can turn your day from a day of negativity to a day of positivity.
Give positive vibes to others. Like you, other people have horrible moments in their lives where they think nothing else could go wrong. Sometimes it may be hard to cheer oneself up when things aren’t going as planned. However, that’s no reason to get down on yourself because that’s what other people are for. Giving compliments and cheering someone else up could help turn their day around. You might never see what is really going on in someone’s life, and your positive vibes could change their entire world.
Accept positivity from others. We all know those people who can’t accept a compliment and always seem to have a gloomy attitude. I’m writing this for you. Stop the rejecting of compliments and the gloomy attitude. When given a compliment, take it and be positive. Others wouldn’t give you compliments if they didn’t mean them. For their well-being and your well-being, you need to accept the compliment and perhaps return one in their favor.
Wake up with a positive outlook. If you need to look in the mirror and tell yourself how great you are just to ensure your day will be positive, do it. If you need to give yourself a pep talk on the way to work just to ensure your day will be positive, do it. If you need to spend twenty minutes alone just to ensure your day will be positive, do it. Whatever it may be, it is important to start your day off with a positive action. Starting the day with negativity will only ensure that the rest of your life is negative; however, if you start your day with positivity, the rest of your life is sure to be positive as long as you wake up with a positive outlook.
At times, I may have a glass-half-empty outlook on life, but I’m working hard to increase my positivity. I hope these tips help others to do the same.
