The Power Of Empathy

Open your heart, be a human, be empathetic.

The Power Of Empathy
Joe Sampouw

As one of my favorite actresses and empowered woman once said "The great gift of human beings is that we have the power of empathy- Meryl Streep".

I believe the world should be viewed through lenses of empathy. By practicing empathy, you will have grasp on what it means to be a good person and a human being. Empathy allows us not only to understand ourselves, but others as we are putting ourselves in "other people's shoes". When we are able to understand others, the human connection is furthered as our resilience is strengthened. This allows people have a deeper respect and understanding for others.

Empathy is also especially important as everyone is fighting silent battles that may not be visible to the world. Whether these battles are small such as losing your keys to large such as losing a friend, our internal struggles are not clear unless shared with others. This is where empathy comes into play as it helps you to change your framework to understand others obstacles and hardships.

Since all people are fighting internal battles, I have trained myself to just be nice no matter the circumstance. You never know who is struggling or going through something traumatic, so it is best to be kind and respectful to all. So practice empathy and share your kindness, sympathy, love, and positivity.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
