A little love would make this world a better place.

Before I begin, this is an essay I wrote for one of my English courses in college. The topic for the essay was “What is something you believe this world needs?” At the time, I felt that this world needed more love. Two years later, I feel as if this world needs more love than it needed then, which is why I am sharing this article….

The Power of Love

Nowadays, everybody pursues love. Starting from a newborn bursting into tears when he stops feeling his mother’s loving warmth to a grandfather smiling when he sees his loving grandchildren arrive. Love motivates people to bring happiness to those who they care about. Thus, I believe in the power of love.

Many people in today’s world lack love. The conflict between Democrats and Republicans would be resolved with love. Politicians need to fill themselves with love for this country and the American people, instead of with greed for money. Religious conflict would disappear if religions filled themselves with love. Their energies would be focused on helping those who need help instead of attacking those they disagree with. Kids in school would be better off if they just showed a little love for each other. Instead of bullying the weak, they could help them and help that person reach a higher level of happiness.

The same concept applies for love demonstrated by families. The world fills families with stress. During the day, the kid stress about school and their social lives while the parents stress about work and their expenses. Taking a teenager to ice cream after a break up or hugging dad after a long day at work, are acts of love. At end of the day, a family with love strives to make each other happy. Love in a family is like the bolts on a building. Without it, a family falls apart as there is nothing holding it together. Love keeps a family together as they help each other through all of the daily struggles just like the bolts on a building keep it together through the destructive forces of Mother Nature.

When a person arrives to a moment a life in which they love themselves for who they are, they have reached a higher level in society. The hateful opinion of others transforms from a heavy stone to a light feather as that person already knows who they truly are and find others negative opinions irrelevant. The confidence they have obtained by loving themselves opens many paths. Everyone from managers to girls search for confidence as a confident person pays less attention to what others are thinking of them and focuses more on the task at hand. This love empowers a person to overcome an unintended overthinking and reach their true potential in all aspects of life.

Hate is destroying us. It is pushing us farther apart and destroying our potential to grow. With love, we will be able to work together and improve the world we live in, the family around us, and ourselves. Simply, this world needs to learn to truly love.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
