We’re probably all familiar with the extreme stress of missing out by finally making the great decision to stay in instead of going out for the third night in a row. But wait, all of your friends are going out to your favorite place! You tell yourself it’ll be worth it because you’ll get so much work done throughout the night. But in all actuality, you end up sitting in bed and watching all the Snapchats in complete regret.
Phase One: Feeling like a genius
Ahhh, what a great decision, staying in, catching up on your readings and papers, maybe even getting ahead on them. You're going to go to sleep early, and what’s more important than sleep? Nothing. “Great decision,” you tell yourself.
Phase Two: Seeing all your friends leave
So things start to get a little difficult, and only at phase two. Okay they’re all together and they’re all going out together and you’re missing out a little. But hey, look at their coats; they are clearly not warm enough. They’re going to be frozen by the end of the night, and you’ll be warm tucked up in your bed.
Phase Three: Not doing your homework
Let’s be real, does anyone actually get work done when they stay in? Nah.
Phase Four: Netflix
This is inevitable after giving up on any form of work.
Phase Five: Social media
This is when the FOMO really sets in. Watching all the Snapchats and Instagrams of the night you could have been a part of. Well…now is when you get a little upset about the whole “staying in and getting my life together” thing.
Phase Six: Regret
Okay, so you're not doing everything you planned on doing and your friends are all having a fun time and who knows what you could be missing and you finally realized you should have gone out.
Phase Seven: The next morning
So just when you think the whole night is over, you have to hear stories about the night that you were not apart of.
But it’s fine, right? You got 10 hours of sleep, so in the end, you’re the real winner.
