Snow days are always the best. You feel like you have no worries in the world and all your daily tasks and expectations slowly fade away on snow days.

Being from Texas, I didn't grow up where snow days were normal. After moving to New York, winter suddenly became my favorite season. There is nothing prettier than waking up to your neighborhood being decorated with white, fluffy, bright snow.

As a kid, I could always be found laying in the snow after making dozens and dozens of snow angels. I would look up at the sky and try to catch each snow flurry on my tongue. Clearly, there are many benefits to a snow day.

Here are the best perks of snow days:

1. An excuse to do nothing

Snow days are always a good day to finally shut off your constantly ringing phone and simply enjoy a day to yourself.

2. No work or responsibilities

It is a rarity these days to have a day without work and constantly thinking about all the responsibilities you have weighing down on your shoulders.

3. Sleeping in

I mean, is there anything better than sleep? The best thing in the world is your mom waking you up and telling you there's no school and to go back to bed or waking up and getting an email from your professor that your 9 A.M. is canceled.

4. Looking outside to a winter wonderland

There's nothing better than waking up from that 10 hours of sleep and looking out your window to a winter wonderland. It's as if you are waking up in a snowglobe.

5. Snuggling up next to a fireplace

After playing in the snow or finally getting out of bed, the warmth of a fire on a cold day warms you inside and out.

6. Watching endless Netflix

Cuddling up with a blanket to your favorite season of Friends or Gossip Girl all day sounds ideal to me.

7. Endless hot chocolate

... and you can drink an endless amount of hot chocolate. Snow days give yourself an excuse to put all diets aside to enjoy your favorite comfort foods and warm drinks.

8. Playing in the snow

Playing in the snow is always so thrilling and fun.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
