The Olympics Tends To Bring Out The Inner Athlete, Inner Competitiveness, And Inner Fan

I love sports, but I just love the Olympics more.

The Olympics Tends To Bring Out The Inner Athlete, Inner Competitiveness, And Inner Fan

The summer Olympics comes around every four years, and the Winter Olympics come around every four years too. What is nice is that we do not have to wait four years to see a single Olympics. This year the summer Olympics is in Rio, and in two years the winter Olympics will be in in South Korea. However, with any Olympics I tend to get a bit crazy as a fan, and my inner athlete comes out and my competitiveness shows too. I think it has to with the United States of America being my home country and me wanting said country win an abundance of medals (gold being the preferred medal).

My inner crazy fan comes out during the Olympics and I tend to jump off and on the couch and maybe swim in place (if swimming is on) because I just get nervous. I also tend to yell at the television, telling the USA swimmers to swim faster as if they can hear me talking to them. But pacing and screaming is definitely a big thing for me and jumping joy; just like Katinka Hosszu's husband.

In addition to my crazy screams and jumping around as a fan, I get bummed when the USA does not get gold or medal at all.

My competitiveness comes out and a lot of trash talking comes with it. I like to win, and I think everyone likes to win. I can take losses, but I want the U.S. to win all the way. While watching the Swim finals (yes, I think this is the only event besides track and field that I get crazy about) I just want to jump right in and help the US swim team win some gold. The relays are pretty crazy where I start yelling, and trash talking the other countries as the U.S. is in the lead. I mean, I guess I react like Michael Phelps did when he won the Men's 200m Butterfly.

Further, I just love seeing the American flag in the middle and our country's athletes on top of the podium with gold around their necks.

The Olympics just brings another type of person out in me I guess. I love watching them, and seeing the parents reactions to their children actually participating and winning medals because it is so funny and humbling.

No matter if the United States win medals or not, it is still the best two weeks of the summer because we come together as a world in one place where athletes compete and just have fun. As my inner crazy fan, inner athlete and inner competitiveness shows during the two weeks that the event is on, I am proud of the US athletes who put on a show of their lives for the country and their families. I mean I can name one athlete that people love to watch and he put on an amazing show thus far: Michael Phelps.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
